Transport for VSF Chinese - gamer Mac WIP

I thought I would add my two pence worth into this competition.
My idea is to build transport for my VSF Chinese army.
After taking so long to build my Aeronef and losing some interest along the way I have decided to go with smaller projects.
The idea I have is not fully realised at the moment but basically it is to build as many vehicles for my Chinese as I can, in the two months of this competition.

After the first outing of the army and getting massacred when attacking. I felt my infantry needed some armoured transport.
So using the two pictures below for inspiration I am going to build a steam powered armoured vehicle big enough to carry a squad of soldiers.




I have mucked above with Google sketch up with some ideas for vehicles and came up with these











A trawl through my bits box for some various useful bits came up with this lot


Using some bass wood strips I worked out the size of the hull I would need


and glued together the hull


Next a mock up of what I am going to build


Then on to building the wheels
The large wheels are made from plastic toy discs fitted inside some plastic tube with various bits of real rivets used for making the hub.
The smaller wheels are large washers covered in balsa wood, again with real rivets to make the hub.

There is going to be a cabin in the middle of the hull


Troops will go in an open section at the front



Next is a flying bridge at the back for the vehicle crew and commander.
As I said at the start this is just the first vehicle depending on how I get on I am looking to build an artillery vehicle, some Kite men and any other things I can fit in.

In fact, if you are going to BLAM, I have something that might suit.

Have you thought about having the cars powered by opium  

This is going to be a cracking little project

An update on my small project
The cabin is nearly finished cardboard covered in balsa wood and two coffee sticks. Still got the door to make.

Man, that´s mighty fine. I can picture it attempting to smash through a European barricade, supported by a barrage of fireworks.
