Plus you can beat people with your crutch!

They probably should have to roll a dice to see if they fall over if they do this

They're crazy sea-dogs prone to drinking bucketloads of rum. They should probably ALL have to test for falling over, every turn...  :)

A hooked hand should count as a short blade in close combat. And if you roll a 10 on a d10, the opponent has to take a BRAWN test or they get disarmed.

Well, that's what it SHOULD be. I'll have to edit Pete's manuscript tonight to include it.

You don't have to test to see if you fall over when beating someone with your crutch. :) That would just be evil.

"Drunken Sot" is a Flaw, too. Please do not attempt to swing from the rigging if you have this Flaw.  :D

Don't you dare touch than manuscript. Just because you own the damn company doesn't give you the right to change the rules!  :x

Edit: I re-read my contract and apparently it does give him the right to change the rules. Damn.  :(

Now, come on. Evil or not, he has to lift his crutch, balance on one leg, raise his crutch, strike out and still hold balance? I guess he has some disadavantages compared to a man with two legs and a club. On the other hand, some sort of swashbuckling bonus for such a daring action might be in order. I'm sure you will do just fine without my nitpicking comments

And with that, this brave fellow turned his back directly on {Long John Silver} and set off walking for the beach. But he was not destined to go far. With a cry John seized the branch of a tree, whipped the crutch out of his armpit, and sent that uncouth missile hurtling through the air. It struck poor Tom, point foremost, and with stunning violence, right between the shoulders in the middle of his back. His hands flew up, he gave a sort of gasp, and fell.

Whether he were injured much or little, none could ever tell. Like enough, to judge from the sound, his back was broken on the spot. But he had no time given him to recover. Silver, agile as a monkey even without leg or crutch, was on the top of him next moment and had twice buried his knife up to the hilt in that defenceless body. From my place of ambush, I could hear him pant aloud as he struck the blows.

--Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson

Now I ask you, does that sound like a man who suffers close combat penalties?

I'd say you need a new contract, Pete. It might be helpful to visit Rich and try to argue using a crutch

Does anyone know what scale they are? And will they mix easily with other companies (eg, Foundry pirates tend to be rather smallish...)?

Black Scorpion tends to be a bit larger. More towards 32 mm I believe.

I love these pirates btw. I'm totally torn between ordering a bunch from Foundry and these. Does anyone have any idea what they are planning on? Full range or just these 10 and a few more?

I guess you're right. I found this disclaimer at their site:

"Black Scorpion miniatures are approximately 32mm tall (29mm to eyes)."

Damn shame about the scale. Beautiful minis, but I won't go there. Please don't make me! I just can't afford collecting figures and terrain for another scale (I can barely, if at all, afford the stuff I need for 28mm).
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!
