There are pics of this from other angles, the background to the piece, and a closeup of the virgin cannibal cultists on my Blog:-

Those are blind cave oxen!  I think they must have bought them from the Mostali (Dwarves), who use them to pull their cannon-cult artillery train.

Have you ever found any decent Dark Trolls? The only one I ever believed got ther look right was a one shot from Ral Partha. If anyone ever released an excellent line, I would be terribly happy!

No LeadAsbestos, I've not found a source of decent Dark trolls.   I have a lot of the old Citadel and Ral Partha ones, but they are a little small for my tastes.

Saw this very nice group on your blog already, Simon, along with many other strange creatures. I know Glorantha by name only, never looked inside this obviously fantastic world ...

Hi Killshot, The Shakers and the Mosatli in Glorantha, are both reported as using blind albino cave oxen.   I'm not sure whether this is because they are both earth cults, or have trading links or whether the concept was so good they used it twice!  (Why are oxen used in caves, anyhow?  Perhaps to pull mining carts?)  I think oxen are a different breed of cattle to, say, milk cows, but am not an expert.

The minis are oxen from Front Rank, used to pull Medieval wagons.  I added a knob to the end of each horn to match the illustration in the "Unspoken word" magazine, and moved some of the heads about a bit.

Cheers, Simon

Is this established fantasy I am not aware of or something you made up yourself?

Ah Killshot; it's the background to the Dragon Pass Boardgame, that ultimately led to the Runequest and Heroquest role playing games, and the development of the world of Glorantha.  Runequest was a competitior with AD&D, back in the day; still has many adherants.

Runequest is the best rpg of all time. The only one that I ever consider going back to, and glorantha would be the setting. Had many a fine adventure in my youth w my Zorak Zorani Troll! :-*
