Interesting Steampunk Warrior from Hasslefree
« on: October 23, 2009, 10:36:49 PM »

I see lots of interesting possibilities for VSF gaming and conversions. I really like the boiler on the front and back of the torso. The legs are fantastic as well. I would prefer a different arm, instead of the sword, and a less Fantasy like appearance on the shoulder armour and tunic,  but things can be done....

Note that the price is for a pre-release master casting. A regular model at a cheaper price will appear in November.

It looks a lot like something from the Privateer Press Warmachine or Iron Kingdoms Range. The sword smacks of a WM Caspian Battle Blade. Might make a good Warcaster for IK role playing.

That's a bit for the white metal range and was sculpted by steeldragon over on the FoD. Perhaps he was inspired? I dunno but a nice red or blue would look nice all dirtied up and dinged around the edges and joints. Of course the brown metals could work in a pinch too.
Everything is better with lizardmen.

So, not a fan of the "nope dont like it response" with no follow through as to why i have to ask, what dont you like? :-)

It`s too spikey and fantasy-like for my taste and that cricket bat it`s carrying looks stupid, it reminds me of the Celtos figures (in my humble opinion of course!).  This isn`t a dig at Hasslefree either as I quite like some of their stuff.

Nope don't like it..........

because.........

it looks a bit too "GW" to me - not like Hasslefree's more usual "realistic" style of sculpting. As soon as I saw it I guessed it wasn't one of Kev's, as I have yet to see one of his sculpts I dislike.
I don't really like too many of the Warhammer or 40K type sculpts - with the exceptions of the Tau and the Chaos Warriors.
It's too "cartoony" for me, but I can see why other people like it.

I don't think it's terrible, and with a bit of work I think you could get something wonderful out of it, but like Gluteus I knew it wasn't a sculpt of Kevs straight away.

We really need to gang up on Kev and make him do some steampunk/VSF/gaslight pulp skirmish figures.

yeah it's not one of kevs, it's a white metal mini, i remember steeldragon sculpting it over on the FOD

It's nice but as Gluteus Maximus said it's too GW and warhammerish which i really don't like  :?

I think it's pretty cool, but I'm not a fan of the sword. If the sword was swapped out for a gun and you replaced the head with a Ramshackle pith helmeted gas mask head it would look really good.
