Sdkfz 250 and M3 [28mm]
« on: October 25, 2009, 09:56:52 PM »
Hello!

I present you two vehicles from Bolt Action Miniatures. IMO, the Sdk is very dark (may be I used a wrong wash mix :S). Opinions?

Thanks,
Cyu

Nice work on the half tracks. IMHO you have not painted the SDKFZ 250/1 Neu dark - I like it! It reminds me of the last days around Berlin for this model.

The M3 looks great - great colour choice.

Thanks for sharing.

cant tell from the pictures if it's too dark
they are full of contrast

I like them and the colour seems OK to me

They look fine to me too. In any case a variety of factors could result in a vehicle looking darker than it should be. I'd be pleased with the results if they were mine. So well done and thanks!  :)

i had trouble with this for ages... in the end i stopped using washes in the traditional sense, as it darkened the tone of the base colour too much - i now use "pin washes" (basically a wash but in a small area - think more like "wet" lining in - does that make sense?) so i keep the brightness of the colours...

the other option is; knowing that the wash will darken the tone of the base colour, use a lighter base colour than you normally would - cos you know once washed it will end up darker... ;)

it depends on how you like your vehicles i guess and is a matter of personnal taste, like that old chestnut of "scale colour"

rob  :)

p.s. - the basing is excellent!!!!
