Surrounded by Pulp Robots!
« on: April 09, 2007, 11:49:03 PM »
Okay, when I posted the link to Germy's robot, I did not know if I was going to get it, but I did and we'll be putting him into production just as soon as I get the figure. I expect he will be out at the same time as the release of Super Science Tales: Terror of the Metal Menace in July.

You can check him out here.

Then, when I got home, I had a package from Northstar and they sent along samples of their first two robots for Storm of Steel.

These Northstar figures are cast in resin and the British one (shown out of package) stands about 45mm tall to the top of his helmet. The castings are very clean and I can't wait to get the Russian one assembled so I can paint them both.

Germy's robot is wonderful, I've got to get a couple of them.  :)

Do you have someone in the UK who stocks your figures?  The place I get my Rattrap fix only carries the books at the mo.

Check with Tabletop Games. I know they are just a distributor, but they may be able to tell you which stores are stocking the figures.

Northstar only gets the books in, you can e-mail them and see if they will stock the figures as well.

If you like that one, Tales of the Revenant is also good, new episodes are slow to arrive but the artwork is great.

Now you have a cool robot, how about models for Captain Spectre and The Revenant?   :)

The original design springs from "Undersea Kingdom" starring Ray "Crash" Corrigan.  See Pics at the bottom of this Wikipedia article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undersea_Kingdom

The design was re-used in Waxwork II (it might be Waxwork I - I am not sure) and in  "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" - tthe film as Moriarty's  flamethrower wielding armoured troopers.
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

I remember Undersea Kingdom from MST3K.   :)

Archive.org has the whole serial you can download to watch and keep, it's great for Pulp serials.

And by the way, the artist on Captain Spectre did the cover for Super Science Tales: Terror of the Metal Menace.

Welcome in Dave! I'm a big fan of the comic as well. You just need to write faster as I'm dying to find out what's in the well.

Welcome indeed Dave, we all want to see what's at the bottom of that well.  :)

Archive.org has a load of old Republic serials, it's great for that sort of thing, it's even got Radar Men From The Moon!

There really should be some cross promotion between Rattrap and the pulp webcomics, even something as simple as .45 character sheets for the main characters alongside the link on the informants page would be good.  :)

I'd be happy to work with any of the webcomic artists doing pulp style comics. I already link to Captain Spectre from my Informants list and Tom Floyd did my SST cover.

I'd love to do a series of character sheets for the game based on them and who doesn't want a Revenant miniature!  :o

Okay, old f**t here, who has had limited (translate = no) exposure to webcomics. From observing comments, there is obviously a whole sub-culture I am missing out on. Now I have got broadband and a bit of spare time, can anyone direct me to some webcomics in the pulp style? Don't overwhelm me, just a few hundred at a time :)
thanks
