Eastern Front Game
« on: November 12, 2009, 06:52:42 PM »
It has been a while since a WWII game took place at Olaf's HQ so last night I dusted of my 20mm Soviet and German forces and played a game using our favoured rules "Rapid Fire". Dave took the Germans holding a bridge and adjoining factory with two infantry battaloins. I took the attacking Soviets with three battalions with the support of a towed 76.2MM gun, a SU76 and a 120mm mortar.

The action was a complete success for the Soviets whose fire was deadly and accurate throughout most of the game, which could not be said of their opponents. The Soviets lost less than a third of their infantry and the SU76 lost to a well aimed shot by the German Pak40.

Ther are more pics of the action on my website, in the photo gallery under WWII unsuprisingly

Actually, the pictures really don't do Phil's work proper justice, as the ruined factory is a work of art in its own right, all squeezed onto an A3 sized MDF base.

Speaking as the 'German for the night' it was a taxing game, not helped by throwing 1's when I wanted 6's and 6's when I wanted 1's ~ I'm sure you all know how it is..... :'(

Very inspiring and certainly the terrain and paint jobs deserve a special mention, particularly as we are spoilt too often by seeing 28mm works of art on here, nice to see some 20mm!  :)
