Where do your creations live?

My games room was converted from my garage - i've got a 12'x4' table, and as each ship is in sectios of no more than 4' long, they can live under the table.

Anyway.. did it carry a seaplane?

One Walrus - already bought - HMS Rodney had two.

Wonderful idea, although I'd probably opt for Rodney rather than Nelson.

If you're doing this for 1938, how about the Royal Oak ?
Or even the Iron Duke - still in service in 1939 running gunnery courses at Scapa.

You'll need more escorts too. Could I put in a suggestion for HMS Glasgow ?

In 1938 there was very little difference between HMS Nelson and HMS Rodney - the Pom-Poms for example got added later.

Why Nelson, rather than Royal Oak, or Iron Duke, or Warspite (as someone mentioned on another forum)?  Because I want 3 triple turrets with 16" guns, and its a very distinctive shape...and when it comes to building, the hull design is "easier" for a multi-sectional model.....trust me on that one!

 ;)

Actually, when I mentioned Royal Oak and Iron Duke I was actually thinking as next project(s) after Rodney/Nelson rather than an alternative.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

If you're insistant then you should definatly build Nelson as it was cheaper then Rodney, £6,986,710 compared too £7,070,573, this of course doesn't include labour, which I think is the same figures again plus a bit  :D

and you should remember that firing the main armament had a tendency to damage the ship itself  ;D

old oil can  ;)
spending 7 million quid for 2 repairs and 2 coastal barrages and the Q turret not being able to fire fore or aft....

but I agree that it looks very special and I understand it is easy to build this type in sections though  :)

I have to ask...

What on earth would you use her for? She'd almost be a gaming table in and of herself.

No idea Doc - that suggests a degree of forethought or planning that I haven't managed to develop yet....  lol

Having said that, my games table will just about take the Destroyer, Carrier, and (yet to be built) Battleship, side by side - i'm not ruling out games in my hall...the garden....

Opposing force could consist of torpedo boats, aircraft, or maybe a giant squid.

Please do not make any flippant comments to Akula that may be construed by him as suggestions! You may have indeed given him the idea for Recon 2010's display game now and this will not be tolerated!
