Looking for opinions on 15/18mm VSF line.
« on: December 11, 2009, 04:41:40 AM »
I'm looking to start up a VSF or Steampunk line in about 15-18mm next year. I've been gathering contact info, but I was wondering if you guys had any opinions or advice for me about sculptors either traditional or CG that I should be looking into. I'd especially like to know how to get in contact with the guy who sculpted Black Hat's Martian Empires stuff if he's available. I've already commissioned a few pieces from Frozen Planet, a 20mm tall prototype of the hard suit we've got in 28mm. (And if things keep going like they are, the smaller variants will be in regular production before the original...)

The idea of the line will eventually be a very wide ranging and complete line for either a very divergent history or a completely new universe, I haven't quite decided yet. Lots of factions and aliens with many different tech levels and styles represented with humans ranging from steam punk to Crimson Skies style dieselpunk. Of course aliens will be all over the place, but I want to avoid the kinds of things seen in the current glut of mid-tech 15mm sci-fi stuff.

I don't have any plans for rules yet. Though I keep thinking a mix of Warmaster and Sword and the Flame could be fun. And of course I'd be looking to bring some of the more popular things back into 28mm.

What do you guys and gals think? Thanks.

I'm not very good at giving advice but your plans sound exciting. I think larger 15mm/18mm will be the way to go as that seems to be popular.

Good luck with the project and looking forward to seeng how it develops.
Don't!
