Time to repaint your modern British troops?

Looks like its time to repaint your modern British figures. After 40 years of DPM the army has a new uniform:

It seems to have taken quite a few years to realise!

Why make things better for the troops when you can get away without spending money by using substandard, cheap, old stuff?

******* government  >:(

Still, it does look good and I will be searching for larger, more detailed pics and hoping one of you fine people will be doing a tutorial soon  :D

You'd think they'd have the foresight to develope one that was easy to paint  ::)

I struggle with good old Victorian khaki, let alone fancy 21stC bling-camo  lol

I've just read that it is a derivative of the US "Multi-cam" which failed to get adopted by them. That could either be very worrying or very reassuring.

I'm not sure which, though  :?

This quote is especially good news for figure painters:

While DPM consists of four colours, MTP is comprised of seven varying shades, but exact details of which colours are involved remain confidential.  “The strength of this is that sometimes it looks very green...sometimes it looks very brown”, Lt Col Evans said.

Or maybe not.....  lol lol

No! I still have my DPM gear from my brief military career in the early 80's! Now it's redundant!

I thought the new pattern looked a lot like the current US one... That's a worry  ;)

Multicam is very, very good.  UK Special Forces and their American counterparts have been wearing it for years.  The MTP pattern is designed by Crye who also designed the original Multicam.

MultiCam (by Crye) is excellent.

Universal Camouflage Pattern (by the US Army), often confused with MultiCam, is worse than useless, making the wearer stand out like a sore thumb everywhere. They may as well go back to wearing navy blue, at least that'd have the advantage of reducing - hehe - blue-on-blue incidents.

I'm not 100% down on UCP/ACU pattern.  Faded I think it works in urban environments in Iraq.  Just precious few other places ;D.

I take it that's that silly "digital" camo they use? I can't see the point of it other than to say "we are using super modern tech to produce our snazzy camo" How many squares and rectangles do you see in nature :?

I've probably missed something and I can see the need to try and reduce uniform issue to a minimum, but from what I've seen, the new British kit is far superior. The US pattern looks too "wishy-washy" and seems not to break up the shape of the wearer like DPM or Woodland etc does - one of the cardinal principles of camouflage from when I was a squaddy in the 80's. (Shape, Shine, Silhouette etc)

Surely natural, irregular shapes and shades should make for better camouflage?

So long as it matches a certain gravel quarry, you should still be ok.
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.
