We have used both Dr Who style time travel and Stargate type technology to place our Little Lead Heroes in a Modern Version of Ancient Egypt.   Though not a Stargate gamethisone shows some of our Victorian models and Egyptians.

Very kewl, thanks for posting the links with some great photos!

Hopefully I'll have my Ra figure done soon.  He's riding a horse, so it's taking a bit more time than I thought...

Cheers!

I have finally found a way to paint white half decently.  Ra's jacket is shaded with Foundry Austrian White and the horse is shaded with Foundry Austrian White Light.

Took a lot more time to paint the mini then I initially thought, but he will do fine leading up my Egyptian Empire dudes.

Is that a Perry nag?

As for Rays new name I reckon it should be "Rivers of the Nile" ;D  Intrepid Victorian Sleuth, the scourge of all Egypt lol

Rivers of the Nile, eh?   8)

The horse is from Empress, with the rope halter removed.  The rider is an Anglian standard bearer and the head comes from Shadowforge's new Horus Guard fantasy figures.

Beautiful work again, Ray. A truly unique figure - he will certainly be visible anywhere on the table  :D

I do believe the horse also has pink eyes, as well as the lovely pink muzzle, so that would make it an albino. I hope Ra has plenty of sunscreen for the poor thing in all that Egyptian heat  ;)

I've tried painting albino skin for an Elric figure I started a while ago, but couldn't get a satisfactory look to the flesh tones  :(

It re-inforces my belief that the Empress horses are in the top two or three in 28mm (alongside EBob and the Perrys).

The mix of the head and staff with the ‘modern’ uniform is just awesome. I cant wait to see whatever personal bodyguards he will have later on.

Well, "pure" white horses are very rare.  The eyes are dark, but the "lining" of the eye would be pinkish... which I tried to protray.  As for the horse itself, I do believe that Empress horses are sculpted by Ebob.

Which brings us back to my fluff and the gift of 100 Arabian pure white horses from the Prussians.  They will, indeed, translate into a "guard" cavalry unit for Ra.  Let's face it, with the treasures of the Pharohs, the guy has plenty of resources to build whatever he cares.

The "Guards" of the Egyptian Empire (like Ra) will wear the "Horus" helmet.  Regular troops will wear an Anubis helmet.  I have enough helmets for a little more than two units; a cavalry guard unit, an infantry unit (wearing the Anubis helmet) and a few left over... perhaps an artillery unit.

In the grand scope of things, I am now finishing up a gatling gun unit for my Americans and then will concentrate on my Egyptian/Prussian alliance as opposition.  To balance things out, the Egyptian/Prussians need a couple steam tanks, a cavalry unit (Ra's Guard Cavalry) and an artillery unit.  At that point I will be ready to put these guys on the table and battle it out.

Next up for the Egyptians will be a rather unique steam conveyance... a steam beetle!  :o
