Isandhlwana and Rorke's Drift
« on: January 22, 2010, 01:57:32 PM »
Today is the anniversary.   Well, the 22nd and 23rd, that is.

Anyone currently gaming, painting or building Zulu War terrain lately?

A friend is hosting a big game using his collection of traditional toy soldiers. Sadly I can't make it, but I promised to yell "Zulu!" very loudly.

Well, you've got 9 years until the 140th anniversary, and that should be enough time even for the most "average" (read, procrastinating) wargamer to get something organised!

with all the Zulu threads here lately gamers will only need to gather around some proper scenery - I guess everyone knows the battles by heart now  ;)

Smokeyrone, if You like Zulus, just try the search button, there will be plenty to be seen

problem is, I might get a Zulu army done in 9 years, but if I'll be able to game in 19 years?..... ;)

Cloning is already possible.

By that time I'm sure we will have a tribe of former users eager to take up the challenge.

Now, don't either of you get this wrong, but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAN, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!!  lol ;)

I'm currently working on a few Zulu War miniatures, just finish John Wilcox's 'Horns of the Buffalo', have started reading Adrian Greaves 'Rorkes Drift' and I'm planning a game tomorrow :D

I have to admit that I didn't even realise the significance of the date as one day has been blending into another lately...

Bed, I already searched the Zulu threads here, as Zulu gaming is my co favorite genre, along with Sudan and NW Frontier and zombies.

;)

Who cares if you're out of ammo if you've got a decent martini to pass the time! ;) :D

I'm still toying with the idea of doing a bunch of Zulus, but knowing me I'll probably end up with merely two dozen which will then be used as stand-in natives for other colonial games. I actually still got a bunch of BTD Zulus lying around (which I got in a swap in 2005 - gosh, has it really been so long!), and some Old Glory(?) Colonial Brits...

I prefer mine straight up and with a twist. ;)

shaken or stirred?  8)
certainly goes with the colonial attitude  ;)
actueally there is the Foundry servant with the bottle and tray (that unfortunately isn't available as single miniature, cause I'd need some), and also some butler types
but sadly no proper glasses and bottles to outfit a bar....
