Future Wars by Chris Peers Available
« on: January 22, 2010, 02:17:57 PM »
We have just gotten in our stock of Future Wars (the Chris Peers rulebook for near future conflict).

The rules are the same as the original. We have, however, added a Table of Contents to make finding things easier.

You can order it from me (Rattrap Productions) or Brigade Games. Northstar should have their copies in a couple of weeks.

Here is the description from our store.

The world of “Future Wars” is one which will be familiar to most people, in broad outline at least, from science fiction films. It is not a pleasant one to live in. In the post-apocalyptic near future, the cities of earth have become battlegrounds for a variety of factions - including organised crime, local citizen militias, and well armed troopers employed by successful gangsters or powerful business interests (if there is in fact any difference between these last two). The wealthiest and most ruthless of these factions deploy some hideous hi-tech weaponry in pursuit of their goals, releasing killing machines like Terminator robots and Zombies (the latter perhaps the products of some mad scientific experiment) onto the streets. At the other end of the social scale, desperate outlaws hold out in the crumbling sewers. There are even rumours of things far worse than any of these. With the planet’s defences down, alien raiding parties of species previously only imagined in humanity’s worst nightmares - Hunters and Bugs - are being reported by those few who have survived their onslaughts. What happens next is limited only by your imagination….

The rulebook contains contains a point costing system so you can model your forces on any popular science fiction films.

Do these rules cover vehicles?
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

I just consulted the fancy Table of Contents I put in and lo and behold, page 34 Vehicles.   lol

My fancy and snooty way of saying yes, they do cover vehicles. Sorry, just having a bit of fun today. I figure I might as well get my laughs in mow before Grimm does me in.  ;)

And so the list grows.

I've already been meaning to put in an order somewhere for .45, Broadsword, and maybe a couple of the expantion books, then I noticed Atomic Cafe....and now this.

I understand the dilemma. I end up buying all these rules and writing all these rules because new things keep striking my fancy.

Indeed. I keep trying to tell myself, "focus one one or two games only", then something else strikes my fancy and there I go.

Your cunning plan is working already. Good sets of rules are now easier to get to grips with.

Who'd have thought a Table of Contents could be so useful  ;)

Have the rules got experience/campagin type stuff in them?

I'm looking for a possible alternative for the necromunda rules as I've got a few friends who like them but I'm kinda off GW just now.

Also Urban Mammoth's Urban War terrain is looking like a good cheap way to get a sci fi/post apoc/industrial board up and running on the cheap.

A general description of how the game plays would be nice, is it post-apoc, can it handle space opera type goodness?
