Cytherean Natives
« on: January 24, 2010, 09:21:05 PM »
I have been laying the ground work for our excursions to Venus. After poring over the few field reports on native species that have come across my desk I have come up with three distinct bipedal, sentient indigenous Cythereans.

The first, and most affable, are Phipps' Newts. Named after the late, lamented Professor Fatheringay Phipps, the first to make contact with and translate their spoken language. The Newts have been very cooperative with the British Military as scouts and there is talk of forming a Newt Sepoy company.

The second race, dubbed the Bufo for their particularly toad like appearance, have taken up an alliance with the Prussians on Venus and little is known of them. However they are considered a rough lot and the few reports I have read from British Shikari that have had contact with the Bufo say we are better off leaving them to the Prussians.

The third race is the most mysterious as we have had only two reported sightings, both ill-fated meetings leaving sole survivors. They seem to be of an intellectually higher order than both the Newts and the Bufo having shown some technological expertise on their own. From witness reports a composite likeness was created and is on display in the lobby of the British Post in Victoria City. From the Newts that have seen the statue we have been given a name for the creature: Croothon, which roughly translated from Newt means Thorn Hunter.

British subjects are warned not to attempt contact with these creatures. The two survivors of previous contacts attest to a bestial cruelty and savagery almost impossible to believe.

Very cool!  The tentacles look like they belong on the Kroot face!

ia!  ia!  Ftahgn!

Very nicely done.  It would be an honor to have my expeditionary force to be slaughtered to a man and then their blood used for baths with a cyclopean loofahs and a slight aroma of lavender by these guys.

You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

It's becoming apparent that Venus is a very hostile place...  :o

Managed to miss these first time  >:(

Thanks for the threadomancy, otherwise I'd never have seen them. They are fantastic and the addition of the tentacles really transforms them into something far better than the basic Kroot design. Nice backstory, too!

Well done Skrappy  :D

Thanks. This is the prototype so they have not made it to the table yet.
