More Mexica in 15mm
« on: January 26, 2010, 09:46:27 PM »
Hello!

Time ago I've posted some pics of my aztec army in progress (link). Now, I present you the rest of my army!. The last week I finished my last base, now I must take pics in scenaries (with pyramid included!).

Suggestion, criticisms are welcome!

My next proyect will be a Mayan army, but I've stayed searching info about heraldic / shield symbols and I haven't found nothing of relevance. Can you help me? thnx!.

Oh man, 15mm? Haha, they are so wonderful! Wow, exceptional.

As far as Mayans, look for internet sites about the murals of Bonampak. These original murals show you what Mayan warriors looked like. Who is going to face your Mayans? Aside from inter-city warfare, the great city states were basically already in great decline and abandoned by the time the Spaniards arrived. Subsequent "conquest" against the dispersed cities took a long, long time, 150+ years. The warriors they fought had little of the same regalia as depicted in the miniatures that are available.

Another area to game would be the "War of the Castes" or revolution that occurred in the Yucatan Peninsula between the mid 1800s to early 1900s.

Anyways, I ramble, thanks for your wonderfully painted masterpieces. I am in awe and... to be quite honest... jealous. Jealousy flows on this website, it's quite loaded with talent.

Thanks you very much!!! I've bought Mayan from Gladiator Miniatures, and IMO, this miniatures are pre-columbian and of the spanish conquest war!. My problem are the shield: I don't know symbols or heraldic :(. Gladiator miniatures present two shield: one rectangular and one circular, but I don't found info on the net!.

Adios!

My last trip to Mexico (November), I found a fantastic 54 mm plastic figure playset of Aztecs, including a Chacmul and nekkid girl!

Unfortunately, it does me no good for 15mm gaming.   :(
