Blimey, I almost sound serious there. Better put a stop to that.

For a moment there, I thought you were channeling every Australian war movie director, producer, and author ever. I mean the only thing left was Paul Hogan going "Roight then. Another cuppa?"

I've never really thought of comparing the Great War to an episode of Scooby Doo. I shall have to study both in greater depth to see if the analogy holds up under close scrutiny.

 :D

As I recall, each episode of Scooby-Doo begins with the gang singing about the Alsace and negotiating with the Austro-Hungarians, so I would say it's a close match so far. And didn't the war end with Kaiser Wilhelm being revealed as Old Man Roberts, who owned the abandoned amusement park?

Well, any episode of Scooby Doo I ever saw (yes, all three!) had a level of horror that would not be out of place in the trenches. You know, that certain "THE HORROR! THE HOOOORRROR!!!" :o :o type of horror.

Hummm... now that reminds me of that one episode of "The Simpsons"...

"Yes, I´m Billy the Kid, and this is my posse: Jesse James and his brother Frank, and the most dangerous German of all time, Kaiser Wilhelm! Yee-haw!"

And he´s a Zombie, too!

Even for a 'non-event' game it reads well  :)

I see you have a Hornby pylon for a radio mast. Mine arrived yesterday, I saw one on E-bay and ordered some from a mail order model shop. I'd never seen them before last week and now I'm going to spot them everywhere aren't I.

Nice smoke too. The islands look like S&A Scenic desert hills, even if they're not I'm going to buy some and press them into service.

So despite everything not going to plan I, at least, found it inspirational.

Good show.

Hi Matakishi or Poly

Can you let me know what scale  the Hornby Pylon is please. I'd like to purchase one for my German colonies and scenarios for the Great War.

Thankyou so much.  :)

God Bless

Hi Helen. Not sure in terms of scale, it is a model railway piece and the box says it is OO Gauge. I think that equates to 1/72 or 1/76. Something like that. Not totally sure, as I've never really been a model railway buff. So it isn't really 28mm by any stretch, but I reckon it worked okay as a radio mast for that scale.

Then again, I'm notoriously sloppy about things. My finished mast is just shy of 8 and 1/4 inches high, if that helps any.

It's really meant to be an electricity pylon, like so:

But it was the closest thing I could find to a radio mast, and it served well enough.

They're 20mm scale as far as wargamers go. That should make them 2/3 the size of a 28mm scale pylon which is close enough for me considering the heights of most of the trees I have (dwarf trees, like most wargames ones.).

There's nothing quite like a pylon or a railway track to 'date' a game layout, I think thay're well worth the investment.

Oh, they come in a box of three  :)
