Chaos In Carpathia PDF Ready For Sale
« on: May 11, 2007, 04:16:23 PM »
We have released the CIC PDF for sale at our usual two purveyors' sites:

Saber's Edge (http://www.sabersedge.com/2.htm)

Wargame Downloads (http://www.wargamedownloads.com/).

The PDF will sell for $10.95

Give the guys a couple of hours to get the stuff in place, but hopefully we'll see it in the respective stores by day's end (U.S.A. Eastern Time zone).

Let us know what you think if you do decide to take the plunge.

The hard copy book should be released by month's end.

I was trying to hold out until the printed version was available but the download was just sitting there calling out to me  :D

Only had chance for a quick read through but looks superb so far. Hang your heads in shame Westwind!
...and what fresh new hell is this?

Congrats to the release Scott! That is indeed a very fair price for a rulesbook of that size. How many pages does it have in the end?

89 I believe Mike- just printing it now.  Looks absolutely awesome!  Well done Scott!  I too couldn't hold off for the hard copy although I'll certainly buy the book version too if this reads as good as it looks.

Thanks, guys!  A lot of work went into CIC, and I encourag people to check the credits and the afterward. A lot of the folks who helped me most are mentioned there.

I downloaded my copy yesterday. The rules look to be just about everything I expected and I can see that I will be having a lot of fun with them. Now all I need to do is to put together a couple of warbands.

We're going away for a short break in Prague at the beginning of July, so I can see I will be taking a lot of photographs of architecture.

Yet another project to distract me from my VSF / Boxer Rebellion project. Hmmm .... how about Chaos in Canton?

Bought it, and going to give it a look ASAP... At first glance it looks great, and might be exactly the thing I needed...

I'll get back with more "insightful" rambling after I've read through it more thoroughly.

I tried to play my first game tonight but we ended up in a situation where the vampires appeared almost completely "un-killable" in comparison to the humans.  Specifically I think we weren't using the Combat Attack/Evade abilities properly.  Could someone, Scott perhaps, post how they are used?  Does each rating level add a die or do you add the rating to the goal rolls or???

I'd also like to see a detailed example of combat (showing stats and abilities of involved parties) to ensure I understand it please.

Many thanks guys

Yes, you add combat attack/ evade to the dice pool. I don't have a written up combat example at hand but all of the monsters are very tough opponents.
The hunters are more difficult to play, playing the Vampires you just need to stuck in whilst the humans need a tactic to make use of their superior numbers and you need to be very familiar with your models fighting abilities and equipment.
Try to concentrate on the scenario objective.
If you want to fight tournament style you need to gang up a Romanian Vampire with several figures to get the bonus dice for multiple opponents. Or stay out of range and weaken the monsters by shooting. If you manage to reduce their numbers by killing some weaker Vampire Warband members you can use your superior numbers to control the battlefield with your activations.

Hi Mike

Thanks but do you add them to the goal rolls as dice or???  Van Helsing (major character- Intrepid Leader) was up against a lesser vampire and couldn;t ping her.

Thanks

You add them to the dice, combat attack x3 means +3 dice to attack goal rolls.
The same counts for charge bonus etc.
