Captain Blood IS Dracula...
« on: March 02, 2010, 12:40:57 PM »
Well, this is not strictly wargaming - but it is strictly Gothic Horror!

A few of you may know that one of my other past-times besides painting, modelling and gaming, is acting, directing and writing in the theatre
(It's all the same thing really - make-believe worlds in miniature  ;))

So in a few weeks time, I'm appearing as the original bloodsucker himself, in a bloodthirsty and erm.. rather adult adaptation of Dracula, by (arguably) Scotland's finest living poet, Liz Lochhead...

Little did I think, when I chose the name 'Captain Blood'...  ;)

Link to the show site below - and you can buy tickets online: although I'll quite understand if you don't plan to travel the world to see it! (Even though it's shaping into a cracking production, I must say).

But couldn't miss the opportunity to share a couple of the press pics with you Gothic enthusiasts...  :)

Ah, it's a hell of a job, but somebody's got to do it...  :D

Well Richard, I must say I didnt recognise you in the photos either, been using a bit of Grecian 2000 have you? ::)

Splendid stuff, I'll see if  I can convince Mrs M we need a trip to Coulsdon.

After my first round beating I was heard to declare, "That Captain Blood is a heartless bloodsucking fiend!!!"...who knew I was right!

Best of luck, and don't forget what Dracula says, "Rest is goooood fooor theee Bloooood!"  :)

Who wouldn't 'kiss' a fair lady's neck?
I've taken part in some amateur productions myself, played once the Ghost of Canterville in a more creepy version - representing the infamous but beloved bad guy is plain great. >:D

Looks very promising - break a leg! More pictures appreciated.

[edit] Adjusted due to Chris' advice. ;)

Here's hoping the play won't "suck" too much... that the dialogue doesn't prove exsanguinous... that you meet your stakes...

lol

Okay... just kidding, obviously! And please note, IIRC, that wishing "good luck" before opening night is actually BAD LUCK - almost as much as speaking the name of "that Scottish play"...

Quote
"It's bad luck to say "good luck" on opening night
If you do, I tell you
It is certain by the curtain
You are through!

It's bad luck to say "good luck" on opening night
Once it's said, you are dead
You will get the worst reviews
You've ever read!

Even at the Comedie-Francaise,
On the opening night they are scared
"Bon chance, mes amis", no one says
The only word you ever hear is... merde!

It's verboten, vishing "luck" on opening night
Take advice, don't think twice
Or your show will surely end
Up in the Scheiss!

At the famous La Scala in Milan On opening night it's a rule
"In boccu lupa" they say with elan
And just for luck they all shout... ba fa goulle!"

Break a fang, Captain! I knew there had to be an excuse for your superior brushwork. Centuries of practice, eh?

Looks great, Richard, you big drama ponce.  ;)
I've been quite involved in amateur (and a bit of professional) theatre myself, mostly as a scenographer, but also as a writer and actor. I always got a great kick out of it.

Bloody marvellous Capt B! The only thing that gives you away is a spot of Vallejo on the fingernails.  ;)

Fingers crossed for a great run.
