How to paint Verdigris?
« on: May 22, 2007, 08:01:56 PM »
I really have enjoyed painting this Barrow-Wight but I still am not too satisfied about the verdigris on the brass/gold parts.
Vallejo produce a verdigris glaze, but this looks far too'minty' in my opinion, so I opted for a darker look. But it still does not seem right in my opinion:

Do You have any ideas/suggestions?

Many thanks in advance!

You could try it with a dark mixed Vallejo Green Blue

That.....is.....an............awsome................paint job
That is one the best minis I have ever seen in 28 years of gaming. Great armour effect. Fantastic! I will probably never paint another mini after seeing your wight, Vikonik. Well...for at least the next 5 minutes.

TT.

Indeed it's the better barrow wight I've ever seen... Even better than those from the 'eavy metal team.

Many thanks for the nice comments!
:)
I already have repainted the verdigris parts of the wight and will post it together with the next one in a different thread.

I achieved a far paler verdigris effect with good old enamels using a sky blue and mid green combination with a touch of white when I did this little lot a couple of years back

There's a really good tutorial on painting verdigris in one of the issues of Wargames Painting & Modelling by Nathan Bultman.

See the attached post - my Blog for details of how I painted verdigris.
