Force on Force Operation Uruzgan at ducosim last saturday
« on: March 09, 2010, 12:17:29 PM »
Last saturday we played two scenarios form the Operation Uruzgan supplement for FoF. Enjoy!

First up the second scenario. A British patrol on foot has reached their destination. Their transports (a Mastiff and Viking) are on route to get them back to base, but the Taliban think differently.

The village and it's surroundings, everything's quite for now

Villagers going about their business peacefully

A suspicious bike is spotted in the streets only the disappear again

The British patrol arrive in the village and the scenario starts, Mastiff and Viking on the northern road

A close up of the British in the village

The transports move up, as do the Taliban who have been waiting in ambush, first shots are exchanged

As the Mastiff rumbles through the streets villagers are seen running from their homes

The driver of the Viking spots a suspicious bump in his course which turns out to be an IED, luckily he caught it in time

British and ANP manning a position in the village, a lot of shooting was going on by now, several British had gone done, but only one of them was heavily wounded, the rest got back to their feet and jumped into the Mastiff

The second IED wasn't spotted the Viking, but the Viking didn't sustain any damage from it, lucky Viking I guess :)

Two units of Taliban make their push into the village, while a third tries to close the trap on the British, but to no avail

Everything seemed to be alright, but then the Mastiff broke down and the British got stuck trying to leave the village, although they scored more points then the Taliban, we decided to call it a draw since the British certainly weren't going anywhere soon

Second game was the fourth scenario in the book, in which a Dutch patrol gets hit by an IED. They now need to get the wounded driver and gunner to one of two possible LZ's and call for a casevac (LZ's are on the left side of the road, top and bottom of the picture)

With air support flying over head everything seemed to be going well for the lucky Dutch

The patrol kept on moving, not much happening

Then the second Buma got hit by an IED, wrecking the vehicle and wounding the driver and gunner, a lone Taliban with an RPG pops up

With the wounded onboard the first Buma it's making way to a possible LZ, other Dutch soldiers are stripping the wrecked Buma of anything that might be usefull for the enemy

As the Buma reaches the LZ it's being ambushed by a large unit of Taliban lying in wait, fire is exchanged and the Buma is knocked out along with the wounded men it carried, so much for the lucky Dutch...

The Dutch quickly react and send a force to secure the remaining LZ

Meaning the Taliban are putting pressure on them

What the.. suddenly a small truck drives up the road and is heading towards the Fennek. Civvies? Additional Taliban? A VBIED?

The YPR gunner positively id's the car as being a VBIED and puts it out of business

A tranquil scene among all the violence

Trying to hold the Dutch of guard the Taliban keep on pushing forward

The Dutch commander isn't taking any chances and soon the close air is at the scene again

And wrecking havock on the Taliban

Undeterred by the helicopter the Taliban make a final push towards the LZ

An alert Dutch soldier spots moved in the compound opposite the road

Being fed up with everything going on the lone farmer decides to take a stand, but misses utterly and is taken down by the Dutch reaction

Then the long awaited Chinook arrives on scene

After the gunners trade fire with a few Taliban and kill them in the proces, the Chinook lands safely

Victory went to the Dutch, although at quite a price. In the end 5 Dutch soldiers were taken down and 2 Buma's had been wrecked. They did succeed in stripping the bombed Buma, securing the area and landing the Chinook safely.

Judging by the Revell models on display, I'd say 20mm.

Hmm, should have put up a disclaimer 'No goats were hurt while playing these games', before some animal rights activist might get a wrong idea... ;)

Everything is 20mm / 1:72, soldiers are all metal and mostly from Wartime Miniatures, vehicles are mostly Revell kits are from SandS Models.

We had an awesome day. I really like the AA/FoF rules, they make for really exciting, fast-paced and realistic games!
