Star Wars 1942
« on: March 14, 2010, 08:32:52 PM »
Hei,

I just want to show you the project I'm currently working with.

It's the Star Wars theme transfered into WW2, something like SWWW2 ...  o_o
I got the idea after I saw some Actionfigures made by Sillof, who is making a WW2- and a Steampunk-range based on Star Wars.
And a lot more amazing stuff (a Gaslight Justice League and so on).

Until now I have converted most of the figures and have started to paint.
But sorryfully, I don't have so much time, so the project will last longer as planed.

The first figures I've painted right now are the Royal Guards, or "Kaiserliche Garde", and a Sith-beast

And all three in action

And I began with the Twilek, a Sithcreature hunting Jedi from the comic series

And there are still a lot to come, like Baron Waders, Boba Fett, elite Stormtroopers... and, of course, some Rebelscum  lol

I've planed also three gaming tables (Destroied city of Al'Deraan, a Commandbunker called "Der Todesstern", and a 2"normal" battlefield).

Also an X.Wing, based on a Spitfire, and at least one AT-ST.

So, that should be enough for the first post.

And, by the way, I'm searching still after a good mini for an R2, so if anybody has an idea...

Hilsen

Tobias

Nice minis and terrain, but I think I need the concept explaining to me.

The concept behind is, how would Star Wars look like if you transfer it into the Second World War.
Something like an Elseworld thing.

The figure of the Empire are based on Germans, the Rebels on British and French.

So, the same Story in a different time.

Awesome pics and idea. I love seeing nifty re-theming like this.

We did this with the Pulp Adventure genre RPG once. We had most of the main characters figured out.

Luke = Farm Boy from the wastelands of Kansas
Leia = Daughter of rich statesman
R2D2 = was a midget mechanic
C3PO = was an intellectual

Darth Vader became a villainous Prussian with delusians of Empire.

The Death Star was a fake island that moved throug hthe oceans on its own raining death with a strange super weapon.

Armored airships took the place of Star Destroyers.

They were aided by Old Ben who fought in WW1.

We even had a clunky flying boat called the Centenial Falcon piloted by mercenary pilot Hans Ullo and his hairy Russian co-pilot Chevbreka

It was all good fun but done for an RPG, not a minis game so no cool pics to show off like you have.

I think the idea is a 'goer', best of luck in turning it into reality.

Great idea. What figs did you use for the Royal Guard?

@ Digitarii:
I used the German Mercenaries from Copplestone, from the Back of beyond range
I also used the Officer for my "von Waders", and the last one of the Pack as "Hans Solo"

Mostly, the figures are Copplestone or Artizan

@ Hooded Claw:

Sounds interesting.
What kind of rules did you used, Savage Worlds?
Surely, it was a lot of Fun

I think we used the D6 Modern, being long time Star Wars D6 players anyhow. If I did it now days, I'd do it with Savage Worlds.

George Lucas was heavily influenced by the imagery of WWII, especially as the nazis relate to the Empire, so this is a natural.

Yep: turning X-Wings into Spitfires is pretty much reversing what John Dykstra did. lol
Back from the dead, almost.

@ BaronVonJ

Nice work with your baroquish Star Wars, I like it.
Have you made also some figures.

You've wakened some new beast inside of me, maybe...

Realy, good job.

Most of its done, but the stormtroopers are holding me up. I can't decide to make 'em from scratch or modify. Copplestone's Glory of the Sun range has provided most of my rank and file.
