Modern Mafia in 28mm???
« on: March 14, 2010, 11:16:12 PM »
The Dixon Yakuza look amazing. Aside from the Geezers or Copplestone minis are there any modern Caucasian gangsters? I'm a huge fan of Euro-Crime/Poliziotteschi films, so I'd get a huge kick out of running a game based on the themes in the films.

Most of the Mafia/Crime type figures I come across are either from the 1920s-30s or a bit too Road Warrior. Something that could pass as Russian or even modern Irish mafia in the US would be great.

Any suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

The Foundry "Street Violence" range should have a large selection...

I've heard their sculpts are a little flat with no real detail. Not sure I'd take a blind risk buying from them online.

Some of Black Hat's civilians would make good gangsters with the addition of a gun.

Not at all flat, I'd have said; but a little rough in some places.  Also, I suspect the sculptor (early Seth Nash, if I remember rightly*) had never worn a suit - he's got some big tough hard men wearing women's jackets.

*Correction: No, I didn't remember rightly!  They were mostly by Shane Hoyle.  I knew it began with an "S" ... :?

I just had two of the assault groups "Russian Terrorists" on my painting table. I like there style, but the assault groups figures often look very similar. On the last picture there is one of there african militia figures looking exactly like the mafia figure but with differend head and differend weapon.
Hope my mediocre painting helps in any way.
