The Albion 13th Regiment of Imperial Guard.
« on: March 21, 2010, 04:31:39 PM »
The Albion system is within the Segmentum Solar, as a result, it was one of many systems liberated in the early days of the Great Crusade. However the system only has two planetary bodies, both of them gas giants, orbiting a single sun. The rest of the system is filled with vast asteroid fields, it is believed these asteroids are all thats left of worlds destroyed eons before the rise of the Eldar.

Due to the sheer number of asteroids, the system is rich in numerous ores and gases, Promethian, Iron and Gold are just a few of the materials harvested, as such vast hive cities have developed on a number of the larger rocks, while smaller outposts are constructed every few decades as new veins are discovered and mined.

Due to the close proximity to Holy Terra and the richness of the system, Albion boasts better defences than most Imperial systems, the Imperial Navy has a orbital shipyard and defence fleet of 20 ships in the system. The Adeptus Mechanicus keeps a regiment of Skitarii present in return for vast quantitys of Promethian fuel and rare Xeno artifacts uncovered. Finally the Adepta Sororitas maintain a convent on Albion Primus, helping to maintain the faith.

One of the most famous regiments raised from Albion is the 13th, due to the various cultures that arise on the asteroids, the Guard regiments of Albion contain a bizarre mix of armor and weapon types, over the years of campaigning these styles are soon phased out into a more common model, not so the 13th which allows its squads to retain thier uniqueness, something that causes the Commissars some headaches.

With such close ties to both the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Adepta Sororitas, the 13th has a large number of advanced Plasma weapons and an abundance of flame based weapons, though due to the nature of thier home system, they have a lack of mechanised armor, something they make up with a large amount of infantry and missle launchers.

very nice, I like the black and white armour. For giard you seem rather light on both tanks and heavy weaponry, is that a deliberate choice?

Every squad has a heavy weapon team, I also have a heavy weapon squad built ready to paint, as well as a demolisher to paint, but mainly money has been the driving force.

Ah, ok, I just hadn't spotted them on standard bases, rather than the large 40mm bases.

Well it's taken a while, but I finally got some time to take some pictures of my Guard, starting with the HQ sections.
HQ1

The Company command squad led by Commander Kincade backed up by a Medic, Vox Caster, Melta Gunner and Regimental Standard, and should any of them lack courage, a Commissar is ever ready to shoot them in the back.

Regimental Advisors made up of an Astropath, Master of Ordance, Officer of the Fleet and two Body Guards.

HQ2

Old Man Yarrick

HQ3

A Ministorium Priest, I'll need four more of these to max out the selection.

HQ4

Magos Tosh Iba a TechPreist awaiting the arrival of some Servitors.
