"For God and Parliament!" ~ Victory at Blandings Parva
« on: March 29, 2010, 03:21:18 PM »
Phil and I played an all day ECW game last week. I commanded the forces of Parliament, Phil those of the King. We were using the free rules "Victory without Quarter!", a card driven set we've recently converted to from WHECW rules.

The Parliamentary left, looking towards Blandings Parva

The Parliamentary centre-left ~ Obadiah Bykleigh directs his forces in action

The Parliamentary Centre-right

Massed Parliamentary Horse on the right flank

The Royalist right wing ~ Lord Rawnsley leads his Horse in an assault on the Parliamentry Horse.

While the Royalist centre steadies itself for the Parliamentary assault.

Swirling actions between Horse from both sides as the Foote advance steadily...

Parliament's Horse prevails, the Royalists were driven from the field and their baggage looted...

In a pivotal moment the Royalist foote are broken and flee the battle...

Sir henry Bard's Foote sell their lives dearly, but its all too late for the King's cause...

...as an overview of the table shows at the end of a day's battle.

The figures are mostly Foundry and Perry Miniatures, some artillery pieces are from Bicorne. Blandings Parva is a mixture of Hovells and Gallia buildings, which Phil painted and based up. I painted all the figures except two Perry Miniatures Horse units which I treated myself to ready painted by Bruno Allinson, I think. The game lasted about four hours and encompased about 25 turns, some very brief!

Lovely game, Mr B.  Having seen that terrain for real, the photos don't do it justice............

Three cheers for Parliament!

Lovely game with the superb figures we've come to expect.

Where did you get the rules from? Twenty five turns in 4 hours is very good going especially for a large game like this one. Sounds worth trying out  :)

Very Inspiring, the Quindia rules are nice, certainly surpass the WECW rules

Must get my figures out for a thrash soon! lol

Thanks for sharing.

I think the rules are at
www.Quindia.com
You email and ask nicely for a copy. They run to 13 A4 pages with colour pictures and examples included. I made a 2 sided A4 playsheet for our games. Hope this is helpful to you all.

Whence cometh your flags, Honest Friend?
Infantry flags are from GMB Designs.
Cavalry flags were from Andy Dumelow, but since he sold up last year I'm not sure where they'd be bought from. But, GMB Designs do cavalry flags as well.
