Brass band
« on: March 29, 2010, 06:53:24 PM »
I want to put together a 28mm brass band for a miner's union militia; VBCW of course.

Does anyone know of any figures in this scale, remotely like this? I can convert any sort of band with green stuff and paint, I think..

Scarlet and Gold makes numerous 30mm military marching bands.  These are Royal Hussars from their website (I haven't seen them for real).

I've noticed a distinct lack of musical figures for modern warfare (which is to be expected), but never thought of a marching band! Great idea!

You could try some modified ACW command troops as they have drums and bugles and stuff... maybe with some head swaps? What sort of uniform are you visualising?

I was  thinking of trousers, high collared jackets and service caps.

Good idea Christian; Dixon do a range of ACW muscians. Anyone got any pictures?

Hah! I am currently modelling a 'Damnation Army' for my VBCW  Anglicans. I've come so far as a sousaphone and a bass drum.

Dave Bickley has the band, have a look at his site. Bear in mind that many of these are 19th C instruments, similar, but not the same as, modern

Tradition has a number of 30mm lines that are fairly compatable with current 28mm. A little thin but might still work for you. There are bandsmen in some of these lines. http://www.traditionoflondon.com/index.asp?page=Home.asp#
