Skeletons and Undead

Don't you just love 'em ....... they are so cool.

Harryhausen has a lot to answer for.  Jason and the Argonauts was my favourite film as a kid ( in the early 60's  :o )

Here are some pics - hope you enjoy (sorry about the date stamp)

Old GW skeletons and an old Alternative Armies Wraith
No dear, they are not toys, they are models

The old plastic skellies always makes me think of Harryhausen films. =) That wraith is cool, but what's he doing with his left arm? Supporting the blade?

Maybe a bad angle

He has two hands on the sword hilt, his sleeve is billowing out and connects to the sword

And Immortal Miniatures is bringing out plastic multi-part hoplites.  Hmmm, the possibilities.
Back from the dead, almost.

Lovely work - like the simple shield design - very effective.

Will definitely have to resurrect my Citadel Skeleton horde now!

or what's left of it...

so is it the neck bone that connects to the head bone...  ;D

more old school goodness. Those plastic skellies were perhaps the best deal GW ever did.

You've given each of them some good attention, much more than I can muster for my undead. They look great.

This box set had a whole army inside (almost)

I can't remember exactly but I have cavalry and chariots as well and I think they all came in the same box !!!

Great value and GW - you don't see that phrase too often nowdays  :)

I love that old AA wraith.

Good job AA are rereleasing a lot of their fantasy line. Which is an AWESOME line of models.

Paintjobs look brilliant.  :)

I remeber looking at the box set fondly as a kid, shortly before I got the money together it was discontinued :(

Yeah my brother bought that box, whilst I bought the fantasy warriors box with 10 of each:Wood elves, drawves, Dark Elves, Orcs, Goblins and Skaven. Another great deal from GW, though the minis weren't as good.

Yeah I got one box of each of those and yes the chariots and cavalry were included. I've since got a few more boxes of each.

I have a few pics of some of the fantasy warriors on my old minis thread. Have you any pictures of the cavalry and chariots pauld?

On the Alternative armies front I have seen stuff from them in the passed that I really like but I can rarely find it on their web site. The Folio works stuff and the celtic elves spring to mind.

Straight from the back of a dusty drawer that has not seen the light for many a year

My camera doesn't like non-natural light ... or is that bad workmen and tools talk?  ... but the background is a bit jaundiced

unadulterated horsey man

and Chariot with a metal mini added (he's lost an arm but the delicate plastic is all there - go figure)

I must update these - a quick wash, drybrush and better basing will make them look much more acceptable

Proof that even mediocre painters get better over time  :)

Looking good for having been painted, what, well over 10 years ago? I like the repositioned horse, not just rearing but you've titled the head.

I never got round to painting any chariots but perhaps I need to post some of my skellies and riders from the same set..

Give them an email, I'm sure they can cast you a set.  ;) A lot of what they used to sell, they can still do on special orders.

On the Alternative armies front I have seen stuff from them in the passed that I really like but I can rarely find it on their web site. The Folio works stuff and the celtic elves spring to mind.

Again, send them an email. As for Celtic Elves, I think you mean the Celtic Myth range under 'Erin'. The paintjobs often hide just how wonderful these models are. They are beautiful Bob Olley sculpts.  :)
It's worth a quick look under their 3 for £3 fantasy range as well, there's all sorts of wonderful minis to be had there!  :)

It warms the cockles to see old undead stuff on here. I'll be watching this thread with interest.  :)

or what's left of it...

Haha, ditto. So many shattered bits of plastic under the pile of lead!
