"Let Them Eat Steel!" (The Revenge of Marie Antoinette)
« on: April 12, 2010, 05:05:40 AM »
Now that LPL round 7 is well and truly over, here are some individual pictures of Milady and her swashbucklers. My original plan was to replicate the costumes from the 1970s Three Musketeers/Four Musketeers films on my figures, but there wasn't really a good match in styling and facial features, so I concentrated on getting a good individualized color scheme for each figure instead.

The LPL Entry:

Er, doesn't that lot predate Marie Antoinette by at least 150 years?
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Probably, but it is still a cool title... ;)

Love the colours :-*
The browns on D'Artagnan are great :-* :-* :-*
But the blond hair doesn’t seem right for him, I always imagined him with dark hair. Don't know why?

Actually that particular "Mylady" model wears a distinct rococo dress and wig, so it's all Brigade Games' fault. :D
Anyway, very nice paintjobs, although I would have given the black dress to Aramis due to his clerical affection. But everyone to his own imagination, of course. :)

As a Gascon, one does imagine him with darker hair based on the book. The blonde hair is purely a Michael York thing... ;)

Well said, Doc...! :)

At a certain stage in the film(s), all the Musketeers wear black doublets and slops (except the buff-clad country bumpkin D'Artagnan, and fashion plate Porthos' doublet is gold-chased). As a practical matter, I wanted more variety so I left the black livery to the saturnine Athos (whom it seemed to suit best). I think I also misremembered Aramis in a foppish blue outfit (actually worn by the Duke of Buckingham in the film) but then I started re-reading the book as well and it mentioned how Aramis and Buckingham resemble each other, so I didn't feel so bad...

That's some great work there. I too am a fan of the 70's films and I think your entry captured that feel. That's what I thought when I saw your entry.

I Totally agree.
On the other hand Aramis was also a dandy (I think this is the correct spelling) and at some times he forgets his clerical affection and goes for sporting with some ladies, too!
Well done indeed!

and lovely blues/sky-light or whatever they are!

Thanks, Arg'. When the time came to take the photograph(s), I worried about losing Aramis' blue outfit against the backdrop, but it came out alright in the end.
