I've got some info about Geezers from Craig at Killer B Games.
I asked about the minis and timescale and he said:

"great to hear from you,I'm rather fond of the Geezers idea and have a sculptor in waiting, one of the problems I've had is that since my recollections of the era are as a small boy, I'm having to research the fashions and that's what is taking time.

There are 3 initial packs planned:

1) Flying Squad Heroes ( 2 Figures)

2) Geezers ( 5 rough gents of the 1970's with an assortment of weapons who will subsequently be given alternative heads with balaclavas, stockings etc. That way you can use them as Flying Squad or blaggers.)

3) Maverick Cop: A mean and moody American cop in a sports jacket with a quiff and a large handgun.

Subsequent releases will include Prison inmates ( to break out of transit vans) More U.S. detectives. 1970's Policemen, civillians, thugs, gangs loads of characters etc etc.

The first releases should be hopefully autumn. ( Sorry I can't say sooner.)

I just need to find a good website on 70's haircuts. ;o)

The rules however are coming along nicely. If I could just stop spilling bacon sarnie on the prototype. ;o)

Best regards

Craig"

Craig also stated that the minis would be 28mm scale and that two of the police agents would look a little familiar, One with curly hair and the other mean and moody with a liking for Bovril!

Sounds like it could be a cracking range!

Now I'm off to polish my 1973 Ford Cortina!

Is there a DVD collection or a place to view these kind of shows online?  I want to do historical research.

Deathwing :
You could try "Life on Mars" (only 2 series, but best to start with series 1 it's a bit less confusing that way).
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

The thing is,"Life on Mars" is a modern pastiche of that genre. You would be better off getting your first fixes from the original source.

Otherwise it would be like watching "Austin Powers" without knowing about James Bond or the Swinging Sixties.

The Sweeney is available on DVD:

Might want to try out an episode or two if you can, before you fork out for that little lot, though.

A cheaper alternative would be to get the two Sweeney movies for your first taste:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sweeney-Movie-Collection/dp/B000L42MWE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/026-5519581-8844429?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1181720836&sr=8-2

The trailer for the first one:

I loved these as a little kid (as I had to stay up extra late to watch them), but I'm wondering if it's not all just nostalgia. I'm not sure how well they stand up today. I don't want folks throwing away their money on my say so and then finding these shows and pictures suck!  :)

You are all correct in your assumptions about Geezers! The U.S. version will use relevant slang and terminology but will essentially be the same as it's British version.

Scenarios planned include:

1# The Wages Snatch

2# Spring Mr Slugsworth

3# The Inside Job

And ahem........I've never seen the Sweeney or Starskey and Hutch or Dirty Harry or Life on Mars. Any similarities between Geezers! Shut it! and these TV programmes is purely co-incidental.

Now Shut it! ( Or Danno will book you!)

Ah the Sweeney, classic stuff Guv! :)
Funnily enough I watched a an episode of The Professionals last night and although obviously dated ( a car chase with an Austin Maxi!!!) it was still entertaining. It involved an escort of a visiting VIP by the two CI5 boys. It had running gun battles , car chases and a shoot-out on a barge!
Nice plot-twist with the VIP beeing a fake to lure the assassins out and Bodie and Doyle being totally unaware of the plan right to the end!

Good scenario material!!!!! 8)

How about Barney Miller - though I think that's probably 1980s.

Barney Miller.......To my recollection that was a bit sparse on punch ups and car chases.

If all goes well there will be a sequel to Geezers! entitled " Vice Palms " which will be set in the 80's and will feature rules for Helicopters machine guns and speed boats.

Whether there will be rules for wearing shoes without socks remains to be seen.

The 1980's... 8)  that gives us plenty of opportunities to experiment with painting in soft pastel colours and learning how to paint jacket with shoulder pads on the inside and espadrilles
