A small group of peaceful scientists, sent to explore some strange reflected lights in the night sky on Atlantis, were viciously attacked Chinese forces.
The small peaceful expedition approached the area where the lights had been seen, escorted by Major Duncan MacThegrassgrow and a small British force, they realized that the lights were caused open volcanic activity, reflecting light on to the low lying clouds over the Atlantis jungle. In the middle of a clearing in the jungle they discovered a small pyramid with right in front of it an open volcanic vent.
Much to the fascination of the scientist there appeared to be a group of what looked like sentient Lizardmen, similar to the spices observed on Venus, performing a religious ceremony the vent.
Also of fascination to the scientists was the possibility unlimited geothermic power from the volcanic vent. They were thinking about how much water it would quickly boil and the amount of tea that could be made, great for moral of the troops.
As they were carrying out these peaceful observations the quiet of the jungle was ripped apart by the loud mechanical noise of a steam engine.
Across the clearing a huge Chinese army bust out of the jungle intent on the violent destruction of the peace.
The British commander ordered his force forward to protect the Lizardmen. In the centre the Naval infantry and the Blackwatch advanced.
On the left flank strange rocket powered flying machines were observed streaking throw the jungle getting ready to out flank the British force but were intercepted by the brave lads of the BRAS. In the ensuing fight the Rocketman were put to flight off of the field of battle but at the expense of the brave lads of the BRAS.
The Scientists move into the cover of some jungle.
To our shame a couple of the Lizardmen were killed by British troops, in the crossfire, after a problem with not being able to hear orders over the noise the Chinese Warmachine was making.
Being on a peaceful operation the British force had no anti-armour weapons and were unable to stop the armoured transport which thundered onto the objective.
The leader of the Chinese force along with his second in command kept sneaking around at the back of the Chinese force so Major MacThegrassgrow decided to lead by example moved forward to try and engage them.
In the following fire fight one unit of Chinese Musket men was reduced to four men by fire from the Naval infantry and the Gatling gun.
In return the Naval infantry were slowly picked off until only the leader was left alive. The Black watch and the Scientist tried to engage the armoured transport without much success.
The vile Chinese mercilessly cut down the poor remaining defenceless Lizardmen with gunfire. The crew of the vehicle also killed a couple of the scientists taking cover in the woods. Then the steam engine on the transport failed.
Seeing their chance (Failing a moral check) the scientists charged the stricken vehicle and managed to kill a couple of its occupants before being murdered by the elite Chinese bodyguards.
As the two leaders sneaked behind the small pyramid the Major saw his chance and charged. Although out numbered 2 to 1 he fought valiantly against Dr Fu Manchu and managed to put him down but was wounded in turn by General Zui’e.
Final turn
Seeing their leader brought down one unit of musket men fled into the jungle. The Bodyguard having failed in their task to protect Fu Manchu tried to run towards the British force and surrender.
The stalwart British troops stood their ground deciding to try and avenge their leader. But after taking more casualties the senior surviving officer decided to save his remaining force for another day and ordered a tactical retreat.
The fate of Major MacThegrassgrow is unclear as his body was last seen in the middle of the Chinese force.
It is believed that a reporter, sympathetic to the Chinese was also at the site. But as this cad is not British any words or pictures printed should be taken with a heavy dose of salt. He may even try to disparage the good name of the British Forces on Atlantis (BFOA).
