Prussians?
« on: April 20, 2010, 11:22:18 PM »
I'm thinking of putting together a Prussian army for VSF, but i'm having a bit of trouble finding some minis.

I've looked at ironclad, which are cheap and good looking but come in small packs. I've also looked at foundry, which are absolutely beautiful but are rather expensive...

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I used the renegade early war Germans.

My so far unpainted force comprises of Over the Wire from Warrior Miniatures , Parroom Station from Brigade Games in the states and  normal line infantry from Ironclad. I think of it's bulk you are after you will struggle to do better than Skrapwelders suggestion of Renegade.

I would have suggested Helion also but GM beat me to it. The Foundry ones are a little, but not overly, small compared to some more modern ranges.

If i'm forced to use early WWI Germans (which I really don't want to), the renegade ones with "gas masks" look pretty darn VSF-like. They'd probably make up the bulk.

Yep, Helion are delightful figures, highly recommended.

The renegade germans are fine, honestly.
I used them and I also use some of the warrior miniatures over the wire, England invaded miniatures.  ;)

I have a few bits from Ironclad, but they are a little small.

There's always the Westwind Zendarians:

Unfortunately they come in small packs too so I'll be using mione as some sort of special unit.
Don't!

My Prussian FPW Army started life as a Prussian VSF force. Helion are by far the best, followed by Baker Co (the first Helion Range) Foundry remain very good, but lack the animation of Helion and Baker Co:

Not being funny or intentionally dense, but why are the packs too small? Unless I can get stuff in 10s, I prefer smaller packs as it's easier to organise units for GASLIGHT etc. with less watsage  :?

I haven't seen the Helions at first hand, but I believe Malamute has some painted pics somewhere and if it's them they are lovely figures.

I saw the Ironcald at the weekend and they are very good too. I nearly bought some, but opted instead to get Ironcladman, Nemo and a few other characters from the very nice Mrs (I assume?) Ironcladman who was running the stall at the time. Definitely get some next year!
