Paved Roads (using Antenocity's workshop boards)
« on: June 08, 2007, 01:13:32 PM »
I bought several Cobblestone Paving boards from Antenocity'sworkshop :
http://www.barrule.com/workshop/scratch%20builders%20paradise/sheet%20materials.html

Each sheet is about 370mm x 200mm, and 2mm thick. I cut 9.5mm wide roads (and some curves). I cut the edges to have beveled ones then I glued sand and mortar sand on the edges in order to have dirty roadsides. I painted the edges in dark brown then I highlighted them. The paved area was left with the original colours which looked fine.

The board, itself, is a bit breakable, mostly the long straight one, but I reinforced them with a small lenght of tape. It looks ok.

After 2 days of hard work during the demo games last weekend, only one was a little damaged 2 or 3 small scratches (too many T34 on the road) but I will fix this painting the scratches brown earth as if some paving stones has been removed. It will give it a more vintage look!

Olivier
P.S.

It seems to be cola-resistant!  :x

Looks good Oliver!

one thing we do with the cobblestone is varnish them 2-3 times with gloss varnish or Klear (Future) then a final coat of Dull cote - makes them a lot more durable.

You can also mount them on to sheet styrene 040 or around that thickness.
