Please pardon the threadomancy, but I was wondering when we might get an announcement of the bonus theme for round one of LPL5.

With my molasses-in-January painting speed, I need a lot of lead time (particularly if I have to make some acquisitions based on the theme).

Just askin'... ::)

Michael, there will definitely be an LPL5 - the question of when is another matter! Finding a 10 week window that I can devote to running the thing is the difficulty. But the likelihood is that is will be April - May time. Will try to firm something up over the next few weeks.
There will definitely be a few weeks notice before any new competition actually kicks off, so plenty of time to plan and paint those bonus point entries!  ;)

Cheers

I would suggest putting together a small team of referees for the next LPL. BS2 is easy enough to run for one person but all that uploading of images, tabulation of votes etc. over ten weeks must be chore which could be divided.

Eek! I supposed to be getting married then (!) I'd better get moving and sock away a few teams or I may have to give LPL5 a miss.

Thanks, Cap. In one's monomaniacal self-centeredness, one tends to forget about the workload for the organizer(s)...! ::)

Meh, some more threadomancy but here are some further ideas for bonus rounds:
Small people - Dwarfs, gnomes, pygmies, homicidal circus midgets, grymn, leprechauns, halflings or ratlings.
Nations of the world - Paint something fictional or real from your country of residence. Cricket team, armed forces, cops, historicals or a Blood Bowl team in your national football team's uniform.
Dark arts - Necromancy, witch craft, occultism, human sacrifice - fairly broad category.
Mythical beasts - Dragons, manticores, hydras or jabberwockies. Large, non-humanoid monstrocities from any religion, faith or myth.
Stuff of Legends - Liked the suggestion for painting OOP lead. Bonus points if produced prior to the 90s. Even more bonus points if produced prior to the 80s.

I like navy, I like Movies, I like Civil war, I like Post-apocolyps.

These are all nice an general. I don't want to fork out for minis I am not going to use again.
(I still have VSF Stuff from last year in my cabernet- I havn't worked out what they are for).
Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/

Thinking about possible Future LPL bonus rounds - how about:

The East - a Chinese, Japanese or Russian themed bonus round.
Religion - entries must have a strong religious component.  Warrior monks, Teutonic Knights, Islamic rebels, Cultists, Nuns etc.
Woods and Forests - entries must have a connection to woodland or forests.  Wood Elves, Forest Rangers etc.
Maritime - Basically anything from Ships and Landing Craft to Riverine Warfare and Marines.
Vehicles - Remove the emphasis on figures and have gangs made up of just vehicles - from sailing ships to starships to Tanks.
15mm - I'd love to see how the painters who do so well painting beautiful 28mm figures cope with the smaller scale of 15mm.  Making it a bonus round may get people out of their comfort zones!
Ancients - Must be histoorical and before 1,000AD.

Just my thoughts.

Seems reasonable, i'm going to buy some anyway after seeing a few of them in the LPL lol

Rather than have a bonus round for Lead Adventure Miniatures, I was thinking that it might be fun to have a house rule whereby a team of Lead Adventure Miniatures could be substituted for any other bonus round team(s) without penalty.

That way, entrants are not obliged to purchase any Lead Adventure Miniatures, but those who wish to would still be able to enter them for bonus round points, and they would act as a "get-out-of-jail-free" card for those who don't have/wish to acquire figures for a particular bonus round.

No slight on LAM, but I like the idea of bonus rounds being broader than that.

I think manufacturer based bonus rounds would be pretty dull, regardless of the manufacturer 8)

Right then, since there was a sanctioned threadomancy (which I must admit gives a this threadomancy a very unsatisfying feeling), I've compiled a list of all previous suggestions. Some suggestions were rather similiar (or have been done already), so my interpretation have thrown it in with another one. If you see that I've missed a suggestion (which in fact would mean that you've double-checked every suggestion and compared it to this list) post it here.

Here's the list, in alphabetic order:

No problem, I needed to pretend doing something serious with excel-sheets and stuff for a while...
