Painting Camels?
« on: June 20, 2007, 07:50:44 AM »
Hi guys
After I work through my current US cavalry craze (I can feel it coming to an end soon), I think I'll move back to the Sudan.
Next up is the Camel Corps, but while I now have no fear of horses, I have absolutely no idea how to paint a camel!

Can anyone tell me what colours I can use for camels, or is there an online tutorial somewhere?

Thanks!

No, but I'd also be interested for my WWI german camel corps.

Don't! After painting 20 Beja camels and 24 Camel Corps camels, that's my advice!
I used mainly Foundry 'Butter Fudge', with a sprinkling of 'Sand' and 'Tan' just to vary the units. They are much heavier models than horses, so I painted no more than three at any one time. Somewhere I found a painting guide for equipment, but must have delated it. Google Camel Corps for it?

Geez, I'm a little disappointed that no one really answered this or suggested some resources. I have a couple of pack camels ready to be painted and have no idea where to start color wise.

Hello Forum,
this is my first post so be gentle

Well about painting camels.... first I gather its the African camel/dromedary you are interested in.

This is a camel (or two):

the A-Z of camels:

On the Perry site, there are some photos of their Sudan range Camel corps
there are at least three photos of painted camels with a range of colours.

Tried to find a painting guide on line, but no luck I'm afraid....
however there was some advise a few years back on TMP, e.g. this thread:

Hope some of this gives you some ideas/help  :)
