Turk 77 mm Krupp Battery
« on: June 21, 2007, 06:04:45 AM »
Hi Folks, Here is a Turk Battery of 77 mm Krupp Guns. Battle Honour crew with Force of Arms Guns. Leroy Simpson is guilty of painting these for me.  :) The crew have been painted in the off white uniform that was seen at Gallipoli and its also shown in the Osprey book on the Ottoman Army of WW1.

Very cool, Helen!

Were these sorts of guns a Corps level asset, or could they get parceled out down to individual units as well? I'd like to get some artillery for my Turks, who are complaining that the Brits have a couple of Vickers guns on them.

Hi Pete

I'd be looking at Divisional level (one battery plus a mountain howitzer battery if you are lucky) from the Corps asset. However, it really depends on what rules you are utilising, scenario etc.

For me a Gun battery must look like a battery. My batteries are either one gun represents two pieces or one piece. So when I look at the scenario I can split my models to represent more than one if required.

And as you indicated earlier, I'm a girl who likes to have larger formations in playing the Sideshows of the Great War. I work on a theory of 20 bayonets. Then I add Officers/NCOs, bugler, medic (important) and attached, HMG and snipers, trench mortars as an example. To me this is the basic fighting brick. Add on additional staff (important for Command and signals) you can probably see the picture. Again it depends on the scenario that we have been researching.

If I can assist you in any way please let me know.

very very nice stuff
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....
