Very nice, excellent for only the 4th face you have done. What scale is it (height bottom of boot to eye would be really useful)? Do you produce your own figures or are you looking to sell it? Jo:)

Thanks Jo.  I was really pleased with how his face turned out.  Hopefully I can keep the standard up on any future greens.

He measures 28mm from bottom of boots to eye.  31mm from bottom of boots to top of head.  He fits in very well with Foundry pirates but is a little small next to Black Scorpion.  I dont have any other manufacturers pirates to compare sizes with.

This green and those in My "Mad Max" thread are the only greens I have done, and purely for my own entertainment.  I have no facility to cast anything, and hadn't considered doing so.

I would be interested in selling him.  Having a figure in production would be more than I had ever expected  :o .   Feel free to PM me if you need any more information.

Foundry, Bosun Green, Black Scorpion  (Left to right)

Many thanks,

Overlord.

Hi, He is sadly a bit small for us, we do heroic 28mm scale (same as Black Scorpion) but I have sent you a PM and would be happy to assist you in getting him into production. Jo:)

I met up with Jo and Ben of Black Cat Bases at the Devizes show yesterday.  I showed them the Pirate green and the earlier  Post-Apocalypse sculpts I had done.  They offered me lots of useful tips and advice regarding sculpting and have offered to mould the pirate for me.

Two very nice people who deserve to do well with their business.

Many thanks,

Overlord

I received a  bunch (what is the collective noun for pirates?) of cast mini's from Ben and Jo at http://www.blackcatbases.com/ today.  I'm really pleased with how he came out    .

I had been warned that the hook wouldn't cast too well but it didnt turn out too bad.  I can always replace it with a wire version if needs be.  Next time I will make sure there aren't any bits that might cause problems.  It was mainly caused by not originally intending for it to be cast, instead to just use for myself.  I definately need to do more work on faces as, now he's cast up, its pretty obvious that I havent sculpted his eyes.  Hopefully I will get one painted up soon for you all to see.

A very big thankyou to Jo and Ben for casting him for me and providing encouragement and advice to do more.

I think that would be a 'Crew'  :)

nice work overlord! I would love to paint this sculpt. Great detail and pose, I like the casual nature and attitute in the sculpt. Do you plan on doing any casts?

Finished Bosun

Finally the finished Bosun

My painting isn't up to the standards of many around here, but you get the idea.

Thank you for all the encouraging comments so far.  I'm as surprised as anyone as to how he came out!  I will definately be continuing with more sculpts in the future.
