The "Circus of Nights"
« on: June 26, 2007, 08:41:41 AM »
"The Circus of Nights, a thousand delights, come to steal the coins from dead mens eyes"

I have a small Gothic project on the go at present to build a circus as inspired by the Circus in the Hammer film Vampire Circus. :)

I already have some acrobats, a nice jester juggling flaming sticks, and some gypsy dancers an old hag and some gypsy men.

I need a fortune teller or tarrot card reader,a strongman and a panther, plus any other ideas I haven't thought of.

I am trying to veer away from the Victorian London style circus with too many freakshows.(I already have some of the Westwind figures,) but am trying to make it more European and gypsy like, as in the film.

Any suggestions gratefully received :)

So the Eureka killer are out of the question?

The market isn't exactly overflowing with gypsy miniatures, perhaps for PC reasons. I am sure several pirate miniatures would look the business.

The gypsy lady from Hell Dorado should do nicely for a fortune teller.

Evil Empire figures I know, but Carnival Strongman 1 and Circus Henchman 4 might be useable:

Warehouse 23 also seem to do a rather strange Circus range (see halfway down the page of the link):

They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

Reaper has a few gypsy dancing girls.

As you may know, they are of heroc scale but sometimes that works.

I presume you've already seen some of West Wind's Gothic Horror circus stuff:

http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=2_39

nice strongman at any rate.

also, some of the horroclix stuff from wizkids, especially the newish Freak Show expansion should work well if you can pick them up cheap as singles:

Hammershield - I have that figure, he is a perfect strongman/goon.

I also need a panther or tiger, any suggestions?

Brigade Games have got a 'Circus World' line, maybe there's something suitable in it for your project.

London Warroom has a few big cats but they are quite frankly crap.

By the way, Malamute, did you watch the HBO series Carnaval?

No, Didn't see Carnavl. was it any good?

Just found the perfect Gypsy fortune teller, complete with crystal ball:

http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF03865&Category_Code=WIT

So that leaves me with the wild animals and a few assorted figures to find, I like the Brigatde games circus range, thanks for the heads up on those.
