15mm Song of Blades and Heroes Warbands
« on: June 14, 2010, 12:37:06 PM »
Hi, everyone. I posted a few pics of some 15mm (more like 18mm) warbands for SBH on my blog. Using Rebel minis, Khurasan Minis, Splintered Light Minis, and Eureka minis. The Rebel, Khurasan and Splintered Light minis I was familiar with, the Eureka minis were new to me, and I am very happy with them, also. Very nice, detailed characterful sculpts. And they even have a U.S. distributor so postage doesn't kill you if you're in the states.

Here's a link if you're interested.

Comment and advise/criticism appreciated

Very nice.

Those dwarf sculpts are nice, I particularly like the captain.  :)

Thanks, folks.
@Barry S: I have a few of suggestions for you. You probably have already thought of these, so please forgive me if I'm covering old ground.

1 - play it solo first. If you're still undecided that may help you make up your mind. SBH is pretty fun in solo.
2- Maybe try to play it with some OneMonk paper minis first. That's what I have used from the beginning for SBH and still do. His minis are beautifully done and they're free. Plus he made some sets specifically for Song of Arthur and Merlin. http://onemonk.com/Camelot.html
3, Check out the Ganesha Games Proboard forum and the Song of Blades and Heroes Yahoo site. Both very good sites,

Good luck with it,

Luckyjoe

I tried the SOBAH Yahoo group and found it too muddled and too busy.  :-X

However, it is a game I am planning on trying soon, I have the rulebook kicking about.  :)

Suggestions are most welcome  :D I must admit to already having the miniatures based ready for painting but I appreciate the link to OneMonk Miniatures. I'm using the Slintered Light Dark Age range.

I'm pleased to hear that they a fun for solo play. Even though I have a local club I find I play quite a few solo games at home. I also had planned to run through a few scenarios before introducing it at my local club so.

Thanks for metioning the Proboard. I keep forgetting to go there but I visit the Yahoo group on a semi-regular basis.

Very nice figures, good paintjobs too. I've never thought about 15mm Fantasy but these ave made me think...

Can you get SOBAH in the UK? I know you can download it but I don't do cards or Paypal. Is it available to buy from a shop anywhere?

Cool, I was wondering what the Eureka Elves looked like.

There are print copies of all Ganesha rules available in shops - not just print to order.
In England I have seen them at Leisure Games and Caliver have them all as well.

The Ganesha proboards is a lot easier to get around than the yahoo group.

@Danrit: Thanks. I'm a relatively recent 15mm convert and I've been very impressed by the quality of the sculpts. My favorites so far have been the larger Eureka, Blue Moon, Splintered Light, Khurasan, Rebel Minis and Black Hat minis. The Blue Moon and Black Hat minis I'm referring to were  Pirates and Renaissance Spanish, though, not fantasy.

@P_Clapham: Thanks, Eureka also has some nice mounted Wood Elves. Here's a link to a pic of some that AndyFB posted a little while ago.
