M1 Scout Car
« on: June 14, 2010, 02:59:49 PM »
Trying to make several of these for my Second ACW force. I originally planned to scratch build just one or two but have decided to try and cast it in resin.

This is what I'm trying to represent...

and this is where I've gotten so far.

The body is styrene. I got lucky and found a 1934 die cast truck that fit the bill (after some cutting and filing) for the fenders and undercarriage.
Last night I did a master for the headlights and grilles. I found some larger wheels than those shown that are being worked on now to give them an appearance of the monster hubs the original has.

Nice work. Those wheels look like the ones from the common 2 1/2 ton truck. If you are concerned enough about a minor detail like that I bet you could find some from a kit.

This looks great!  I've always liked the blockiness of that particular car.  If you hope to sell copies, however, it might not be such a good idea to show the commercial fenders in this picture.

The undercarriage is next. Once I'm done with it there really won't be anything left of the original left.
This one's not meant for resale. It will pass muster on the field but is not up to the quality of something I would be happy about putting out there.

That sure is a nice looking Lindy Legion officer in front of it.  Is that who is going to get to drive this car when done?

First casting. I put the windshield together from styrene and will be doing the same with the bumpers.

That turned out great! I can see lots of uses for that vehicle.

That's a real beauty, Skrap. Well done!
