Orcs v. Amazons - (a bit pic heavy)
« on: June 16, 2010, 09:13:40 AM »
This is a songs of blades and heroes match between my wife's Amazons and my vintage 1980s golden era Citadel Orcs.  I lost.  Again.
I remembered to actually take photos this time.  Paint jobs are pretty basic.

They look really nice. Great to see some of those old minis still in good use and some very nice terrain too.

Wow, I love them!
The minis look great, they are very nicely painted, I thought!

The ogre is particularly cool.  :)

Paint jobs look great! Wish I could sucker my wife into a little SOBH, but no - won't work.

Great loking forces.  I like the trees with moss and groundcover, very convincing forest atmosphere.  What make is the Amazon lady with the tattoos and mushrooms on her base?
This is my boomstick!

Excellent old school orcs and mixed new and old amazons pretending to be all old.

I'm loving the SOBH too, it has revitalised my fantasy gaming putting a lot of the joy back.

Excellent blog too, including the heavy metal banner.

Make sure you check out Thants blog for more old school and numerous posters such as phreed here. Not to forget the Admiral either!
In lieu of my own blog (must start one day) I'll point you towards:

I look forward to more on with the Old School revival.

Really nice looking minis there. Good old fashioned style. And really sweet scenery!

Great stuff Dave as I've mentioned elsewhere!

Thanks for the mention Erny - Dave is already a follower of my blog and I'd certainly reccomend following his for the great retro minis and brilliant painting tips too!  :D

Ah...I looked on your blog (really nice by the way) and discovered that the tattooed girl was a Reaper Succubus.  Should have looked earlier but I'm a lazy bastard.

Hey doomsdave- yep, its alura succubus (seducing variant)- Bob Ridolfi just got that perfect cheescake curves on her- a brilliant sculpt.  I just trimmed away, filled and resculpted the back to hide the join where the wings connect.

If your learning to sculpt, I highly recommend grabbing this figure to study- I learned a heap on how you can push curves to create an animated, dynamic pose from this one.

Cheers all!
