Memories of old...
« on: July 11, 2007, 07:03:12 AM »
I will dare to post some "evil empire" miniatures here... for nostalgia reasons...

Recently I discovered in Boardgame Geek an old GW boardgame called "Lost Patrol", something like a "Space Hulk" light in a jungle death world. The rules and scans of all tiles were there so I printed them in cardboard and decided to rescue the old Space Marine Scouts from oblivion.

These miniatures came from a really good boardgame from the Golden Age of GW, called "Advanced Space Crusade", maybe one of the best boardgames GW ever did, and one that died soon as it was really "advanced". The game introduced the Tyranid Warriors into the 40K universe, and created the SM Scouts with somehow silly uniforms (but, hey, there were other times...)

Here are these goldies, repainted for the ocassion:

If anyone is curious, the final result is this: a game really easy to travel with:

And a game in progress is shown here...

Really hard for the humans... If you advance too much the jungle tiles unseen are removed are returned to the deck, so your chances of finding the drop pod and escape are narrower every time you lose a man.

Hard, but fun, yes

There's actually an older version in metal (lead), similar looks, but more rag-tag variation in armour/gear (I've got a dozen or so of them).

I really like those tiles, have never seen them before... must be from the mid-80's or so?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Believe it or no, it seems they are from 2000. A game that appeared and vanished... They can be downloaded from Boardgamegeek.com
