Combining GB and WF Vikings
« on: July 11, 2010, 11:09:28 AM »
Hi! i was thinking about tanking some vikings from Wargames Factory or Warlord Games, and i was not really convinced by both: of course they are extremely detailed and very nice, but too similar (same belt all them!)

is it possible to combine the two boxes, making really various vikings, mixing heads and arms and weapons?

i have quite a good modellistic skill, so if there are to make some small fixing should be good. The problem if is the scale is compatible... :)

thanks guys!

Cheers
Jack

Did you mean Gripping Beast ?
WG don't do plastic vikings.

I don't think there is any compatability with some of the different poses but you might get away with swapping a few parts.

The GB ones are very nice but I'm still not taken with the WF ones, they seems a bit 'gangly' and awkward to me.

I would buy two boxes of Gripping Beast if it was me and use the second one to see to how many arms etc. could be cut and repositioned rather than trying to mix.

well, both the sets are made from full bodies, and then heads and arms!

if the scale is the same, cutting a bit here and there i think that should work...

i'm also more interested in the gripping beast ones, but they have really few body variants, and ALL THEY have a beld and a "baldric", that is pretty too much like an uniform for me!

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

well, it is :)

thanks for the link, i have to say that i'm really happy for my vikings:

only concern: they are smaller than warhammer size, even if they say it is 28mm it looks more like a 25mm.... :(

but i'm planning to make a Basic Impetus Army, and for that they are pretty fantastic :)

That's because they are 'true' 28 mm, whereas GW are 'heroic' 28 mm (closer to 30-32 mm these days)

If you get historical minis from other sources as well, they'll probably fit in with the GB ones. I think.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

They should do. The GB metals fit in well with later Foundry and other "standard" 28mm stuff.
