I agree on that... that´s more of a "21st century interpretation of a 17th century interpretation of hell tabletop game".

I like the swordsmen, and that gipsy lady is just luvverly, but that succubus... ah well.

The French pavilion into the council palace was unusually agitated. The room of war, colossal in its dimensions and luxury, made two of the most powerful persons of the two worlds look tinny. The Cardinal De Richelieu, prime minister of His Majesty Louis, the 13th, and Henri II de Bourbon, General of the French group of explorers in Hell. “Monsieur de Bourbon, I would strongly appreciate it if Mister Vargas fights for us, from now”

-Eminence, why so fast, there is others person to complete this task, some noble heroes less…
-Spanish? Completed the Cardinal. Henri smiled
-I see His Eminence can still read in the heart of men with accuracy answered De Bourbon
-Henri, make me the pleasure to stay attentive and listen to me carefully.
-Eminence, you know your advises are always followed, by myself as by the King…
-Right! I will be direct with you. Yes Vargas is Spanish, unfortunately, but nothing could change it. Agree he is a good catholic at least, which is not right for every of our allies. And also, I prefer known him occupied to fight some demons as free to come in our lands as a foe.
-Continue My lord, please -Thanks Henri. The most important thing is this guy is a genius. Every report we had about him confirms he is a great warrior, he can adapt himself to every new situation, and respect his men. He is more than a warrior, he is a Weapon himself.
-A lethal weapon, Eminence, who dispenses discord and destruction where it comes, objected Henri.
-You’d better believe it Henri! We are in our World, who will complain about some devotees killed or tortured? -Nobody, of course nobody…whispered De Boubon. But why Vargas ? I suspect you are hiding some information that make you appreciate this Spanish.”

Richelieu stopped, massaged his face, looked left and right, and answered: “You’re right, I could choose another Spanish as you said. My Friend, you have to understand this quest in hell may became a crusade a any moment, and I can confirm than, when it will be, I hope be assisted by people from my own house. By persons who fight to defend interests more human and reasonable than spirituals. Look the Von Holbein, or the Balaguer, there are competent, even brilliant ! But they are exalted, furious, crazy, totally devoted to a God they imagine their ! Observe their reactions when they discovered the existence of a Sarasin Kingstown in the other world ! They immediately declared a war rather than try to defend a common interest. What a waste! They put the entire colony in danger. One day, the council of the six will have to take decisions against them or will be defeated.
-That’s it Cardinal, I follow you and am ready to help you. Vargas is waiting for you in the maps room, escorted by a musketeer of the King.
-You already knew what I would say about all this, Henri, you surprised me acting as you did with me, answered the cardinal smiling.
-You’re the genius, not me. In fact I just thought than a “Richelieu” warrior under the orders of a “Richelieu” orator was a pleasant idea…”

A few informations I found about the release of the game:

Release is sheduled for the end of may 2007 (gen con france) for the french version. 4 basics sets with quick start rules and one month later, rulebook with the first wave of new miniatures. An english version is sheduled few month after the french… :)

Regarding your non-asking questions, I send an e-mail to a commercial from Asmodee to obtain some answers.
this is a copy of his message:

cordialement

Nicolas”

In english now:

“-It’s confirmed the game will be available in the end of May…if every continu going well (we are never 100% sure)

-You’ll be able to find items from this game in the same shops you generally found Ilyad games products (they will sell our miniatures as usual)

-Regarding thew rules, they planed do to a English translation via Asmodee US, but with probably some interval (few months)

The first items available in May will be starters including quick start rules. These rules should already be proposed in different language in these packs. the Rulebook will be in stock in June.

No extension planed during the first year, excepted the hundred of miniatures we will produce.

Best regards

Nicolas”

Sculpted and painted by Thomas David.

I only remember this brown twister moving against the wind to our position. The ground before our improvised parapet was a mix of dark sand and small rocks. Something was really going wrong this time. Our musketeers took aim, ready to face the demonic group. We wanted to feed these foes born in the abyss with our bullets and soon enjoyed our easy victory. At about 600 yards away there was silhouettes wearing long tunics, progressing in our direction. We could clearly see their scimitars. Sarrasins !

We prepared to make fire. 400 yards from us and we already could see the light reflecting on their bronze made shields. It was ordered to everyone to shoot at the same time, creating a devastating charge. But we were wrong again. The wind was so strong than bullets changed direction and disappeared into the vortex. We reloaded as fast as possible but, as the dust felt down, we discovered a Demon of sand next to us. He wore a turban made from sand decorated with an emerald. One of his hands carried a scimitar which presented no well defined edges. By opposition to the others, this demon was fascinating as terrifying. On his side were armed Sarrasins wearing green and bronze colors.

Suddenly he whispered something. It seemed he was talking to the wind. He request was visibly accepted. So a warm and dry air strongly pushed the Moorish army. They entered in contact so hard our warriors were reversed. I learned, after our army retreated and during my captivity, that the demon is called a Djinn, and he helps the Sarrasins in their quest of paradise. I still don’t know what to think about it but I’m sure of one thing, this ally is certainly a gift from their god.

Sergeant Paulus, from the army of Kohut.

I just found a new text about Hell Dorado. It’s the introduction of this game.
Find translation below

Hell has its own laws !

The 30 years’ war is intensive for the living persons; men kill other men just to solve some religious concerns. We, demons, take advantage of their stupidity. Every day lot of dead comes to complete our armies. But now we start to be worried. Gates have been opened…and humans found them.

Already some scouts came in our world. Already some armies took position to prepare the invasion. Already mercenaries attack our positions to steal us. For the humans our world is an untouched country where the first to come in is the first to collect want he wants.

Worst, Sarrasins, hidden since centuries into our world show themselves. We still don’t know what they really want but we know they are ready to fight to find it. The lost souls, formerly our slaves, group together to fight for their freedom.

More, some damned, some humans and even some demons leave us to join groups who pay well, or to be free from their old allegiance. Fallen angels are worried and happy at the same time. They are worried because the gates should have never been opened; never humans should have been able to come in our worlds.

But they are also happy to see they have their revenge, they will have the opportunity to listen again the sound of battles, the opportunity to see people loosing blood and suffering. They enjoy because a new period of war has already started.

Aahnou le vil, devil ambassador.

May this help you to find the fourth group. (I will not help you to keep the surprise…)

The blog of Hell Dorado will be closed soon to be replaced by an Internet site entirely dedicated to Hell Dorado and its universe. In addition the play and the figurines starting soon production, we will speak to you today about what will be Hell Dorado on next 27 May! Hell Dorado, the infernal set of figurines, will consist of 5 factions, and at the time of its exit on May 27, 2007, four factions among them will be available in boxes of company. Each box of company will contain approximately ten figurines (according to the size of the parts), and will make it possible to play immediately. These four boxes of company will be presented at the time of Gencon France in Paris from the 25 to May 27, 2007. At the same date the book will leave rules, of approximately 200 pages entirely colors. It will contain the whole of the rules of the game, but also of the specific rules on the use of decorations in the infernal circles, of the scenarios, a guide of painting and nearly a hundred characters and units with their complete characteristics. The framework of the play will be also described there as well as the internal fights of the factions to the c?ur of the Hells of the XVIIe century. Additional figurines of all the factions will be available in the shape of boxes of reinforcement (of 1 or 2 figurines), and each faction will have an innovation every two months. Here is for the program of the rejoicings! To have patience from here at the exit of the play, Internet site of Hell Dorado will replace this present blog. On this site you will find all the old contents of the blog but also quantities of new functions: a super forum high-tech, a gallery of the figurines, a presentation of the background and universe of the play, five factions of Hell Dorado presented camp by camp, all the technical part of the rules of the game to be downloaded, the news, the illustrations and much of others surprised! We also prepare an application on line for the constitution of the companies. It will be matched of a data base on the figurines containing all their characteristics. We soon will raise the veil on the two still mysterious factions of Hell Dorado, then a council: supervise the blog well hell!
