New 1936 Type 94 Tankette
« on: July 12, 2010, 06:02:09 AM »
Hot out of the molds....  The Japanese Type 94 Tankette, 1936 model.

Something to keep the Type 89 company  in those Mainland China Campaigns...

The early 1934 version will be out as well, the primary difference being a smaller rear track sprocket, and a fully tracked trailer.

Should be available in the next few weeks...

Lovely work! There's a fabulous photo of a horde of these in Shanghai in 1937, they look for all the world like an army of invading ants. One of my favourite tankettes.

Thanks... it was a fun build.  Gotta love building these teeny tanks...  Though, this is nothing compared to the Japanese Carden Lloyd MKVI I'm finishing...  That one is literally only 3 cm long.

Yep, it's 1:56.  Here's another pic of it with it's american cousin.  This time, the sherman can be the bully.

There's a photo in the Osprey on Chinese Republican Armies of a Chinese Sherman with one of the tiny Japanese tankettes strapped down to the engine deck, where the crates and tarp roll is in Brett's Sherman... it looks like a kid's toy.

I'll try and remember to get that Osprey back out of the library and scan that photo to share here.

Neat Type 94, too!
