Wargames Factory Shock Troops - I've got a box!
« on: July 30, 2010, 08:18:45 PM »
At 3:23pm today, North Star FINALLY got a box of the new Shock Troops. Despite saying I would not buy a box, I decided to do so when faced by the 'real deal'  - although a bit 'meh' in one sense, they are actually the best plastics from WF I have seen so far. I like the tentacle head for some reason, wish I had more so I can have a group of fat Ood or Zoidbergs to grace my tabletop.

This may mean that I am the first person in the UK to own a box AND quite like them!

The large, single box from the States is mostly 'pre-ordered' by various people but, if you fancy a box or two, give them a ring on Monday or check out the website.

A tentacled face you say!

They 'block' that photo out on their site!

They do look better that I thought they would.

After feeling like I got burned on the Zombies, I'm still not quite sure though.

Do they assemble nicely?  How do they scale up to Hasslefree or Em-4's stuff?

They are pretty 'hefty' chaps, remind me of myself....Nice selection of weapons, some a bit 'samey', have not put one together yet as I am focussing on the Crimean War Russians on my workbench, then the Doctor Who stuff, especially as I now have the not-Amy from Heresy. Might be a month or two before I have a good look at them and put them together, think they look more in scale with GW, IMHO

If you don't use the flame units let me know as I'd be interested in those and those alone.

I've received my 3 pre-order boxes too (Belgium).

I have never pre-ordered, but I certainly don't regret having done so on this occasion!

Apart from the quality of the models in their own right, there are enough heads on each sprue to finally pick up some of my Warzone figures again and provide them with these.  Combining both will give some great results, I'm sure, and for anyone worried about cost of SF/Weird War figures of other manufacturers: you can't beat these prices...

I've started assembling mine.  The arms are an improvement over earlier sets, the shoulder pads and attached weapons help immensely.  Looking forward to painting up a couple sprues worth this week.

If it wasn't for those pesky shoulder pads, I'd get some of these. I just couldn't face cutting a dozen or so pairs of them off.

Oh well, I'll save up for some Pig Irons instead  :)

Is the "tentacled" head that is blanked out modelled on the Dalek Sec/human hybrid from Dr Who, or is it more like Davy Jones from POTC 2?

If it's the Dr Who version, I'd be happy to take one off someone's hands  :)

I found some Steam Mecha that would look cool with these at www.toposolitario.com. BTW how many in a box and how much? I'm considering them for Wierd War II.
