I'm at it again  :D

The table for Salute needs a 'finishing' section for the viaduct and as mentioned oh so many pages ago it was to be a cutting or tunnel on another mesa. I went for cutting as its easier and didn't want to get to the last minute with plenty left to do.

On to the piccys  :)

The viaduct is the same height all the way along.

Simple blue foam shape blocked out.

And with the train for scale.

The start of the corking, I'm really starting to run out though so I think a bit of shopping will be happening soon  lol

With it joined to another normal viaduct section.

And the start of the cutting wall. There'll be coping along the top and I'm debating whether to put a gun emplacement up there  ???

I've been lucky with the fitting of the cork and there's only a few small areas that need in filling with small off cuts.

cheers

Jim that is going to look fantastic! Look forward to the finished result and I wish I could be there to see it in the flesh(so to speak).

Looking great, I think a gun emplacement option would finish it off nicely.

Definitely something up top. Though if you do make a gun emplacement you might need a plausible access point?

He's right you know.

Probably just a make shift one with sandbags like the scene at the end of North West Frontrier. :)

Oooh, this is going to look so good when you have finished it.
 :-*

Cork has to be one of the best materials around for scenery building.
It is just a shame that it is so expensive, it must be costing you a fortune using this much.
Worth it though!
 8)

If you are going for a gun emplacement: Why build a wooden structure, like a bridge linking the two sides?
That way you could have the gun itself on one side and the access point on the other.

Thanks gents  :)

Gun emplacement is it then and I like the idea of the bridge with access on the other side  8)

I think I'll be heading to HMV at the weekend to pick up The North West Frontier then  :D

£3.75 from Amazon:

Then you can build the section with the destroyed piece of track with only one rail going over the gorge... ;D

...and then just drop one of those extra trains that you have on the floor next to the table, hit with a hammer a couple of times, and you can have an authentic train wreck..... :D

Wiki about production of Buster Keaton movie "The General":
"The Texas is driven onto the burning bridge, but it collapses, in what would later come to be recognized as the most expensive stunt of the silent era. The production company left the wreckage of the locomotive in the river bed after the scene was filmed. The wrecked locomotive became a minor tourist attraction for nearly twenty years, until it was salvaged in 1944-45 for scrap during World War II."
