AWI house (and disgruntled local)
« on: August 30, 2010, 02:18:37 AM »
I spent most of today finishing off stuff that I've hanging around for a while and although the amount of forementioned stuff is no where near finished I did get a couple of things done. One bing a house for my AWI collection (I say collection, I have one painted regiment and about 12 unpainted  ::) )

The roof lifts of but it's c**p and boring inside  lol

I'll post up some more of the other stuff in either a different thread of different topic. Don't know where they would go at the moment.

cheers

James

Probably why the local looks gumpy  :D

Is he by Front Rank?

Cracking little house.  :-* :-* :-*
Is it made from Balsa wood?
The roof is gorgeous. I love how you manage to make some of the tiles stand up slightly. Are they individual wooded tiles?

Is he by Front Rank?

He certainly is - from the civilians pack and I love his 5 o'clock shadow.

Nice little house James - very quaint.

Both the roof and walls look like they're laid up from individual shingles (or strips) and 'boards' for the clapboard. If so, holy heck, but that's a lot of work!

Worth it, the house looks great!

That's a really nice house.  I like how the roof turned out.

Thanks for the replies chaps. To answer questions...

The chap I got from a bring and buy somewhere up north years and years ago, cost me 30p  :D No idea he was from Front Rank, it's a very well sculpted figure.

The main building structure is 2mm perspex. The clapboard is cereal packet cardboard, laid individually. The roof shingles are the same sort of card. They are done on the laser at work in strips and then just glued down (to be honest they look a little regular for me but I can be quite lazy sometimes  :D ). The ones that are a little proud only had my knife under them to prise them up. Thanks go to Slient Invader for that little idea  ;)

In the photos, it looks a little more green than it should  ???

It's modelled on the Leinster House from the ACW but looking at other houses from the AWI it'll fit in quite nicely  :)

cheers

James

Very, very nice   8)

Can I ask - what did you use for the window frames?  They are nicely sized for protruding musket barrels.
My LAF Gallery is HERE

(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

They are laser cut from 1.5mm perspex using the same window templates from the walls. I did think about doing them as part of the wall section (one whole piece) but this makes it easier because you can paint them separately and not worry about wall paint going every where  :)
