Need a miniature of this bird for the next house
« on: July 31, 2007, 09:10:33 PM »
The second house is getting shaped nicely (sorry no pictures yet)
I will start sculptuing a nest that has to go upon the roof (as an option that is). I must admit that I do not have a clue what the english or german name of the bird is so I made a link to this bird which latin name is the Ciconia ciconia.

http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afbeelding:Ciconia_ciconia.jpg

When possible a bird that looks like this and to scale so it fits in with the 28 mm range of miniatures for which I am building the scenery.
It does not have to be metal, a plastic specimen would be fine as well.

Thanks in advance for helping me out

What a nice picture of a Storch/stork/cigogne!

I think you might get some from railroad model suppliers in 1:43.5th scale (O-scale/gauge), or look for toys? I recall some manufactures in my childhood making storks which looked to be of the correct size...

Maybe try Langley Models: http://www.langleymodels.co.uk/

EDIT: Out of curiosity, what is the Dutch name of the Stork?

Thanks Chris for your input.
The Dutch word for Storch/stork/cigogne is "ooievaar"

Oy-e-vey!

Now I wonder if this is a Dutch variant of "Adebar", which is the German "poetic" name of the stork used in fairy tales and fables...
