Fuck you and the mackerel you rode in on, I am sticking with the paper mache!  >:D Plus it would probably warp the bottom of the sea.

I always loved that specific species of sea urchin, always making up for itself it was.

Can't wait to see the tendrils fleshed out. This'll make either an awesome explosion effect or some tendrils of forced intrusion oncee painted up. Any shrapnel or body parts planned for the effect?

Please don't josh around, only us 'joshs' can josh the joshed around. (I like my name, except for when it's butchered by a southern accent, thank you.) :)

I am bitter. Just when you think you have a cast iron formula for airbrushing, skin colour, pine trees it turns on you and bites you in the ass. This time is the paper mache again, which managed to warp the CD. The fucking CD! I can hardly snap a CD in two with my hands!

CDs don't warp. What did you do to it??  lol
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

It all comes down to the mighty shrinking powers of Celluclay and white glue. Winter bathing is nothing in comparison.

Crazy stuff. Glueing sand onto a 10 mm chipboard makes it warp slightly, but when I do the same to a CD, no warping occurs. I thought they were simply too rigid.

Did it warp all the way round or only in one direction? I ask, because chipboard seems to warp towards the centre, with the corners raising slightly, but the structure of the celluclay might have something to do with it....

It shrinks inwards and thus lifts the circumference.

Hmmm, just the same effect, then. So it boils down to the more water/liquid added to the material used, the stronger the shrinkage and warping. And a thick layer of material contains more liquid than a thin one, that's probably why the conical shape of the crater could do what a layer of sand can't.

Darn... I really thought CDs were the perfect base for anything.

As been pointed out by others several times already there are several non- or less-shrink materials. I like Celluclay for its other properties however. I think applying it in several times in sections could work.

Sure, I'm just trying to understand the basic physics here  :)

I reckon it's the structure for 'blasts' and there will be some sort of chicken wire/mesh around them and then they'll be covered in flocking and painted  :D

Could be wrong though  ;D

cheers
