Those yellowish stains are... disturbing. Excellent work on the blue skin. They look as if made from lapis lazuli.

Yeah man, what did they do to your photo booth? Will these stains show up on your musketeer pictures as well?

I can't help but think of them as Smurfs from hell. Absolutely wonderful color. How did you get it so saturated?

The saturated effect was achieved by using different colours for highlighting, not just darker and lighter tones of the same colour.

This is why using so-called 'paint systems' often results in those chalky paint jobs that cause players to forget their figures on the table after gaming.

First, I used diluted VGC Ultramarine as a base coat over white primer. No chance of getting an effect like this over black primer.

I did not dilute the colours with water alone, but used the appropiate ink instead.
I added a wash with very diluted VGC Sick Blue and a tiny driplet of VGC Smokey Ink for the shadows, because of its nice purplish tone. The first highlights were added using Ultramarine and VGC Sombre Grey. I added VMC Sky Blue to this mixture and to top it all off, the final highlights were added using Sombre Grey and VGC Dead Flesh, resulting in a highlight with a turquoise quality.

The final touch was glazing the whole thing with Glaze Medium and VMC Transparent Blue, which makes the colour pop right into Your face!

The yellowish stains were made using VGC Yellow ink and VGC Sepia ink.

Hope, this hepls.

@Zafarelli: I will do you the favor, but You will have to look harder to find them than this time...

We were joking around about this before the photos were made and when the time came, the chance was too good to miss...

Odd, seeing "Hellmites" I was expecting to see these http://www.heresyminiatures.com/images/hm013_1.jpg

I didn't know there was another model called that :) I love what U did  with the blue.

Nice yellows, good there are no browns ... ;)

Man, I really had no idea!

I thought of the 'Bat-Mite'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat-Mite while typing the thread. It is totally obnoxious and comes from another dimension...

Zafarelli would have called them differently anyway(Yesterday he said something about  'Imps'...), should he ever decide to produce them.

I make them. They are not really in production yet (the ones on the picture are resin casts, not metal ones), but if you want some, drop me a note.
