Daleks vs. Dad's Army!
« on: August 18, 2006, 01:31:13 PM »
Anyone seen this month's Wargames Illustrated?

"Invasion Alert"
David Bickley
Only Captain Mainwaring and his Home Guard stand in the way of this WWII invasion of England, with a difference... http://www.wargamesillustrated.net/current.asp

Daleks vs. Dad's Army using the .45 Adventure rules! Hehehe!
Warmington-On-Sea should be easy (especially after the Dalek invasion). I'll just add red telephone boxes, etc, to my Mordheim scenery.

I already have two-dozen Daleks. Just need two packs of Foundry models (WWII1/1 - Home Guard Heroes & WWII1/3 Home Guard in Forage Caps) and someone equally silly to play against :-)

Sounds like it would be a great time. Why do I get the feeling that the Dad's Army characters would have a lot of the Lucky attributes from .45 Adventures.

But not so much of the shooting, fighting or bravery type ones, eh?

Cpl Jones: "Don't panic Mr Mainwaring"
Dalek: "EXTERMINATE!"
Cpl Jones: "Panic Mr Mainwaring!!!"

Hmmm... Daleks in .45 Adventure...

Hit location
1: Eyestalk DR: 12 2 boxes (with HT going from 5 to 4 and then Killed)
2-10: Body DR: 15 5 boxes (Remainder of stats but no SH, no stats decrease with wounds but when the last box is crossed off the Dalek is immobile)

BR4, BW4, GT8, DG2, SP4

Death Ray (and I'm basing this off the fact that they always seem to need to get close before firing) CC: None, Short: 12", +1, 10, Med: None, Long: None

This was the FOW take on Dads Army with a few ideas which could be adopted: http://www.battlefront.co.nz/Article.asp?ArticleID=539

 Love the special rules!

Quote
Who do you think you are kidding Mr Hitler: Special Rules

Listen here Mainwering: Company automatically passes all Moral Checks.
Stupid Boy: Will stop LDV platoon within command distance from using My Mum said… rule.
Would you mind forming two nice lines: Any Infantry team or Special Character within 8”/20cm can move double regular distance without penalty.
They don’t like it up ‘em: Add +1 to ROF for all LDV Infantry Teams within 8”/20cm.
Handy Hock: German troops within 8”/20cm are confused and automatically fail any skill test.
Don’t Panic: If enemy team is within 4”/10cm LDV platoon is automatically pinned.
Permission to speak Sir: Long-winded stories about the fuzzy-wuzzies will inspire teams in Platoon to re-roll failed skill tests.
My Mum said… LDV Platoon will fail skill tests unless Stupid Boy rule is used.
I can get you anything: Rife/MG Teams can become MG, LMG, HMG or contraband smuggling teams at no cost.
Were doomed: All successful motivation tests are re-rolled.
Would you mind if I was excused: Private Godfrey may retreat 8”/20cm to the loo at any time.
Rudy Hooligans: When any LDV Platoon passes a motivation test in an assault you must re-roll a die and apply the new result instead.
Oh My!: May act as artillery observer team for any (friend or foe) artillery on the table, but not for mortar teams.
Out of Puff: Cannot move in a turn when team has dismounted from a vehicle or moved in a previous turn.
Bike: Cannot travel more than 4”/10cm on rough terrain.
Shrill: Will cause any LDV infantry team within range to go to ground.
Ding A Ling: May shoot and reveal enemy platoons in the same turn.
Distraction: Enemy Teams within range must reduce ROF to 1.
Bemusement: Enemy teams within range will fall on the ground laughing and cannot move and shoot in the same turn.
Hall: All Infantry teams and Special Characters may have a cup of tea.
Scarf: Cannot Go to Ground or be Concealed.
Tin Hat: If hit re-roll failed saves.
